Regarding the general tourism situation in the first 6 months of 2025, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, affirmed: Tourism activities nationwide continue to have positive developments. The number of domestic tourists maintains a growth rate; the number of international tourists increases at many destinations. Room rates and tourism services do not have many major fluctuations. Security, order, environmental sanitation, and food safety at destinations are guaranteed. Tourism activities nationwide are vibrant and safe...

That result is a testament to the right and timely direction of the tourism industry in restructuring the tourist market, orienting product development, effective promotion and advertising both on the ground and on digital platforms, and the positive effects of the new visa policy, including the role of state management by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and local tourism management departments.

Chairman of Vietnam Tourism Association Vu The Binh exchanged opinions at the conference.

Although Vietnam tourism has achieved many outstanding results, at the conference, many opinions from localities and the Vietnam Tourism Association said that Vietnam tourism is facing opportunities to affirm its role as a driving force of the economy, rising to affirm itself as the country's spearhead economic sector. That opportunity comes from the attention of the entire political system and society for tourism activities; the international tourist market still has a lot of room for growth in the conditions of having favorable policies on visas and immigration.

However, opinions also pointed out many difficulties and challenges of the tourism industry such as countries in the region issuing flexible policies to attract visitors, creating great competitiveness... affecting the quality and quantity of international visitors to Vietnam. Tourism products have not fully exploited their potential and strengths, low added value, and are not really attractive. Promotion and advertising work still lacks highlights, has not created a prominent national brand with its own identity of Vietnam. Service quality at some destinations has not met expectations, especially during holidays. Tourism infrastructure and legal corridors still have limitations...

The conference had the participation of many managers and tourism workers.

Speaking at the conference, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung affirmed that the discussions had contributed many ideas for tourism development in the new context. However, to achieve the set targets for 2025 such as welcoming 120-130 million domestic visitors; 22-23 million international visitors; revenue reaching 980,000-1,050 trillion VND, there are many contents that the whole industry must pay attention to, including choosing highlights and knowing how to choose highlights, and having the determination to make a breakthrough.

Notably, Minister Nguyen Van Hung said that after implementing a two-level government, the development space is wide open, the tourism industry must position itself on its resources and not only rely on the Vietnam tourism planning previously approved by the Prime Minister, but must supplement and renew, according to the Prime Minister's recent direction to "redraw the Vietnam tourism map".

In addition, it is necessary to review policy mechanisms, supplement and improve them to remove bottlenecks, unblock resources, create new motivation for businesses, state management, people, and encourage development. It is necessary to redefine key markets, identify the market as the center, the brand as the foundation, focus on building special and unique tourism products. Promotion and attention should be paid to international visitors, while also paying attention to domestic visitors because Vietnam's 100 million people are a very large market. In addition, it is necessary to build a smart tourism ecosystem associated with digital transformation; strengthen connections but with differences in products and improve the quality of human resources after the locality is stable...
