As one of the province's exemplary cooperatives, the 19/5 Agricultural Development Service Cooperative in Van Son ward is gradually transforming towards safe production, applying VietGAP, MetroGAP, and organic standards. Currently, the cooperative maintains 8 hectares of safe vegetables and 20 hectares of plum trees certified under VietGAP. In addition, the cooperative has invested in building an experimental garden of over 7 hectares to research and select new fruit tree varieties suitable for the local climate, such as: golden plum, early-ripening plum, late-ripening plum, early-ripening peach, temperate pear, and milk grape.

Mr. Mai Duc Thinh, Director of the Cooperative, said: The cooperative has 3 products that have achieved OCOP 4-star certification and 3 products that have achieved OCOP 3-star certification. In particular, at the beginning of 2026, the cooperative's dried plum product met the criteria to be submitted to the Central Government for consideration and evaluation for OCOP 5-star certification. This is the result of increasing added value through deep processing by the cooperative.
Along with investing in production development, many cooperatives have proactively innovated their management methods, applied digital technology , and developed multi-value economic models. In Phiêng Khoài commune, Kiên Cường Cooperative is one of the leading units in digital transformation. Ms. Nguyễn Thị Nguyệt, Deputy Director of Kiên Cường Cooperative, said: "From digital transformation training courses, cooperative members have learned to use smartphones to take photos, record videos, and livestream sales on social media platforms. The cooperative has also invested in building a website, designing packaging and labels for products, and developing experiential tourism tours in the orchards. As a result, the image of pear and plum orchards in Phiêng Khoài is widely promoted on digital platforms, contributing to attracting tourists to visit, experience, and consume local products."

Cooperative societies are increasingly asserting their role as a bridge between people and the market, between production and science and technology, and between production and development resources. Through linkages, technical support, brand building, and expanding product outlets, cooperatives contribute to increasing members' income, changing production mindsets, and creating sustainable livelihoods for people, especially in remote areas and ethnic minority regions.
In conjunction with the collective economic sector, the Son La Provincial Cooperative Union is committed to continuing to innovate the content and methods of its operations; focusing on supporting the development of cooperative models that apply high technology, digital transformation, and value chain linkages; and improving the quality of human resources and cooperative management capacity. The goal is to strive for over 50% of cooperatives applying high technology in production and product consumption by 2030; 50% of agricultural cooperatives linking with businesses along the value chain; and supporting the development of 30 to 50 high-tech and digital transformation cooperative models.

Cooperative economics is increasingly asserting its important role in the socio-economic development of localities, helping to improve the income and living standards of members, contributing to the restructuring of rural agriculture, and achieving the socio-economic development goals of Son La province.
