TTH.VN - On the morning of June 4, in Hai Duong commune, Hue city, the Hue Project - Plastic-reducing urban areas in Central Vietnam sponsored by WWF - Vietnam in collaboration with Hue Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company (HEPCO) organized Hue Plogging 2023 - a walking event to collect trash in response to World Environment Day on June 5.

Hai Duong Beach is a beautiful, pristine tourist destination located in Hue City. However, in recent years, Hai Duong Beach, especially the coastal road, has been greatly affected by the environment due to the amount of waste that people and tourists throw away indiscriminately, of which the majority is still plastic waste.

With the goal of eliminating plastic waste pollution hotspots, reducing the risk of loss to the ocean, and launching a regular movement to walk and pick up trash in Hue City, The Hue Plogging 2023 event gathered more than 300 players divided into 30 teams from units such as: Hue University of Economics , Hue City Youth Union, HEPCO, Thuan An Ward and Hai Duong. The teams walked and collected waste, contributing to cleaning up the area around the Hai Duong coastal road. In addition, the teams also participated in plastic reduction challenges, such as: making recycled products from plastic waste, arranging messages to reduce plastic from collected waste, waste classification challenges and participating in the activity of exchanging waste for gifts.

It is known that the Hue Project - Plastic-reducing City in Central Vietnam is making efforts to carry out many activities to strive for Hue City to reduce 30% of plastic waste lost to the environment by the end of 2024.
