A unified national AI education program will avoid overloading the curriculum.
Accordingly, the implementation of AI education must be carried out uniformly nationwide, but ensuring proactiveness, flexibility, and suitability to the conditions of each locality and educational institution. The Ministry of Education and Training emphasizes that the content of AI education should not change or overload the general education curriculum; activities must be appropriate to the age group, needs, and technological accessibility of students at each educational level.
Educational institutions should proactively choose or combine various implementation methods such as integration into subjects, thematic workshops, project-based learning, clubs, extracurricular activities, etc., following a pilot program that involves evaluation and learning from experience, avoiding superficial or hasty implementation. The utilization of existing facilities, equipment, and resources must be efficient, avoiding scattered and wasteful investment; and solutions must be found to ensure that students in disadvantaged areas still have access to AI education.
Prioritize the integration of AI into subjects, ensuring accessibility and suitability for each educational level.
In terms of organizational forms, the Ministry of Education and Training prioritizes integrating AI education content into subjects and educational activities within the General Education Program to ensure universality, avoid overloading students, and maintain the standards and scientific basis in the use of AI. For Computer Science, in addition to the current content, schools can integrate and enhance some AI topics suitable to their practical conditions. For other subjects, AI is oriented towards use as a tool to support innovation in teaching methods and forms, and to improve the quality of education.
In addition, educational institutions with sufficient qualified teachers can develop elective learning modules, topics, or independent modules on AI with flexible durations; and organize enhanced teaching, clubs, extracurricular activities, and combine socialization and professional collaboration in accordance with regulations.
The Ministry of Education and Training also requested provincial Departments of Education and Training to strengthen communication and raise awareness among administrators, teachers, parents, and students about the role and significance of AI education; organize training and professional development for teachers according to the Ministry's guidelines. At the same time, they should advise People's Committees at all levels to issue mechanisms and policies to ensure resources, funding, and facilities for implementation.
Teacher training and professional development institutions are required to proactively update and integrate AI education content into their training programs; and to coordinate with provincial Departments of Education and Training to organize training for teachers according to needs and a roadmap suitable to local realities.
