The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development recently conducted an inspection of the progress and provided guidance on implementing the targets and criteria for building new rural areas (NRA) in the 2021-2025 period in Son Phuoc and Suoi Bac communes (Son Hoa district).
Based on on-site inspections and supporting documents in Son Phuoc commune, the commune has only met 11 out of 19 criteria for New Rural Development (failing 2 criteria); 8 criteria remain unmet, including: schools, residential housing, income, multidimensional poverty, labor, production organization and rural economic development, environment and food safety, political system and access to law. The commune is currently working to address all the unmet criteria and aims to achieve 3 more criteria in 2024 and 5 more criteria in 2025.
Meanwhile, in Suoi Bac commune, which the district selected to strive for achieving the New Rural Area (NRA) goal in 2024, the commune has only met 13 out of 19 NRA criteria so far (an increase of 2 criteria); the remaining 6 criteria that have not been met include: schools, cultural facilities, temporary housing, income, multidimensional poverty, and labor.
During the meeting, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, along with representatives from other departments and agencies, provided specific guidance to help the two communes overcome some remaining obstacles; they also requested that the two communes revise their plans and specific roadmaps to maintain and achieve the criteria for New Rural Development.
