An Minh District has been recognized as meeting the standards of a new rural area.

Residents of An Minh district are trimming hedges to beautify the rural landscape.

According to Decision No. 670/QD-TTg, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province is responsible for announcing and awarding commendations as prescribed; directing the People's Committee of An Minh district to continue maintaining and improving the quality of the criteria, focusing on economic and environmental criteria to ensure sustainability in building new rural areas.

After more than 10 years of implementing the national target program for building new rural areas, An Minh district has achieved many positive results. The face of the rural areas has gradually changed, the environmental landscape is bright, green, clean, and beautiful; socio-economic infrastructure is increasingly developing, especially the rural transportation system which now ensures that cars can reach the centers of all communes and towns.

Irrigation systems are being invested in more effectively, creating favorable conditions for production and transportation of goods, and many production models are bringing high profits to farmers.

People's incomes have gradually increased; the average per capita income in the entire district reached 65.84 million VND/year, an increase of 44.01 million VND/person/year compared to when the program started; the material and spiritual lives of the people have been increasingly improved.

The education system continues to develop in terms of scale, quantity, and quality, achieving high results in universal preschool, primary, and lower secondary education; the universal general education program has also achieved good results.

Healthcare for the people is regularly prioritized; all communes and towns have standard health stations; the percentage of households using hygienic water in the district reaches 99.92%, of which the percentage of households using clean water reaches 45.57%; political security, order, and social safety are maintained.

To date, all 10 communes in An Minh district have met the standards for new rural areas; 5 communes have met the standards for advanced new rural areas, and Thu Muoi Mot town has met the standards for a civilized urban area.
