Controversy surrounding Hyeri erupted after her fan meeting titled Hyeri Asia Tour 2026 in Seoul, held on June 13th at the Samsung Hall of Ewha Women's University.
During the show, Hyeri performed many of Girl's Day's popular songs and interacted with the audience. However, the form-fitting, sleeveless dress she wore on stage became the focus of discussion.
After images and videos from the event went viral, some opinions on forums and social media suggested that the fabric of the dress, the folds of the skirt, and the camera angle made the actress's stomach look larger than usual. This sparked controversy. Many accounts criticized the singer and actress's appearance, claiming she had gained weight, resulting in a less slender figure.
However, many fans spoke up in defense of Hyeri. They argued that the actress's unusual appearance was simply due to her outfit, lighting, and camera angle. They also pointed out that in another segment of the same show, the actress still appeared with a slim waist and slender figure.
Hyeri debuted with Girls' Day in 2010 before transitioning to acting. She has made her mark in various works such as Reply 1988 and My Roommate Is a Gumiho . Her next project, Dream to You , is scheduled to air starting July 13th.
Following her first stop in Seoul, Hyeri will continue to hold fan meetings in various Asian cities such as Macau, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, and Taipei.
