During the "It's glowtime" event, Apple unveiled the iPhone 16 series, most notably the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Recently, DxOMark, a leading reviewer, has rated the camera capabilities of this device.
Accordingly, the device features a 48MP sensor with an f/1.78 aperture, a 48MP ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 12MP telephoto lens with an f/2.8 aperture.

In terms of camera capabilities, the 16 Pro Max scored 157 points while the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra scored 169 points. Although the phone was highly rated for color accuracy, texture, detail, bokeh effect, and fast and accurate autofocus, it also had drawbacks: inconsistent detail when zooming, lack of detail in ultra-wide photos, loss of focus in group photos, and glare, ghosting, or jagged edges in low-light shots.
Although its still-developing camera capabilities haven't received high ratings, the iPhone 16 Pro Max's video recording is considered the best currently available, scoring 159 points (Huawei phones scored 148 points and Google Pixel 9 Pro XL scored 152 points).
The 16 Pro Max is known for having the lowest noise levels among smartphones when shooting in low light, while also boasting the highest image stabilization. Images feature accurate white balance, natural color reproduction, high detail, and good texture in bright light, with fast autofocus. However, video recording under strong light sources may suffer from glare.
Overall, the 16 Pro Max scored 157 points, ranking fourth after the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra (163 points), Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Honor Magic6 Pro (both with 158 points).
