Speaking on Iranian state television, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that contacts between Tehran and Washington are still ongoing despite recent conflicting speculation. He stressed that no conclusions could be drawn about the negotiation process until clear and concrete results were achieved, and stated that much of the information currently circulating was purely speculative.

Regarding the negotiation process, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf declared on the same day that Tehran would not accept any agreement with the US if Iran's rights and interests were not guaranteed. Iranian officials have repeatedly affirmed that the country will protect its right to develop its civilian nuclear program, its defense capabilities, and its strategic interests related to the Strait of Hormuz.

Along with continuing diplomatic contacts, Iran is also stepping up measures to consolidate its control over the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian parliament is expected to consider a bill to formalize the management mechanism for this strategic waterway. Meanwhile, the Iranian military asserts that its armed forces are fully exercising control over the strait, while warning of retaliation against any interference from foreign military forces in the region.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with his Omani counterpart Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi to discuss the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and the future management mechanism for this strategic waterway. Araghchi affirmed that Iran is ready to consult with neighboring countries on the Strait of Hormuz issue based on international law and respect for national sovereignty .

Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron called on the US and Iran to reach an agreement soon to reduce regional tensions. He emphasized that the immediate priority is to achieve a ceasefire and reopen the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law, before continuing broader discussions on Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile programs and regional security issues.

According to observers, the latest statements from Tehran indicate that Iran is still keeping the door open for dialogue with Washington, but continues to maintain a hardline stance on issues considered to be core interests of the country.
