Spalletti returns to the coaching bench. |
According to a number of reputable Italian newspapers, the appointment announcement will be made today or tomorrow morning at the latest. Speaking before accepting the Juventus offer, Spalletti said at an event in Milan: "It would be great if I had the opportunity to return to the coaching bench. Any coach would be happy to lead Juventus."
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Spalletti has reached an agreement with Juventus on a contract that runs until June 2026, with an option to extend if the team qualifies for the Champions League. The final terms are being reviewed by lawyers from both sides before the official signing.
The decision to change managers came just one day after Igor Tudor was sacked, amidst a dramatic decline for Juventus. After eight consecutive matches without a win in all competitions, Juventus dropped to eighth place in Serie A with 12 points (3 wins, 3 draws, 2 losses).
Spalletti, 66, has managed many big clubs such as Udinese, Roma, Inter Milan, and Napoli, and also served as head coach of the Italian national team. Under his leadership, Napoli played fiery football and won the Serie A title after more than three decades of waiting. However, Spalletti was sacked by the Italian Football Federation in June 2025 after a 0-3 defeat against Norway in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
With Spalletti, Juventus hopes for a breath of fresh air and, more importantly, the return of the winning mentality that has been lost for many months.
