Juventus exchange 3 players for Sancho

Manchester United are facing one of the most difficult deals of the summer: how to solve the "Jadon Sancho problem".

Jadon Sancho is no longer in MU's plans.

Sancho has no future at Old Trafford since his war of words with coach Erik ten Hag - who dared to publicly criticize his unprofessional training attitude. Instead of staying silent, the English player responded on social media, creating a rift that could not be healed.

As a result, Sancho was completely dropped from the squad, before being sent on loan to Dortmund, then to Chelsea, also on a temporary basis - where the London club were willing to pay £5 million just to avoid having to keep him.

Sancho has now returned to MU amid confusion from the board and indifference from coach Ruben Amorim. There is no sign that the Portuguese coach will give the 25-year-old winger a second chance, while the contract term is only one year.

Sancho is not only a depreciating asset but also a huge salary of up to £250,000/week - a burden in the context of MU needing to streamline the wage bill to rebuild.

In that deadlock, Juventus suddenly appeared with a "salvation" offer: they were willing to exchange Sancho for three players - Douglas Luiz, Dusan Vlahovic and Timothy Weah. This was a smart move by the Turin team, but also had many potential questions.

Douglas Luiz is a familiar name in the Premier League, having played for Aston Villa with a strong, physical style of play and a formidable long-range shooting ability. However, the fact that he was put on the transfer list by Juventus after only one season has made many people doubt the midfielder's motivation and current form.

Vlahovic is also no longer in Juventus' plans.

Dusan Vlahovic is more appealing. The Serbian has been in relatively good form, scoring 17 goals in 44 games last season and 58 since leaving Fiorentina. But if Vlahovic is truly world- class as initially expected, would Juventus be willing to part with him for a player who was rejected by Chelsea and Dortmund?

Timothy Weah is an interesting player - an attacking right-back with good pace and energy. But he has yet to prove himself at the top level, and is unlikely to be a big enough addition to United's inconsistent squad.

The big question is: should United accept this offer? In theory, three players could fill some gaps in the squad. But in reality, this is a trade-off between a player whose time has passed and three names that Juventus have released. It is no different than exchanging risk for uncertainty.

Sancho is now something of a dead stock: high-priced, of uncertain quality, and sellers eager to offload him, while buyers are wary of financial terms. The fact that Napoli, who had agreed personal terms with Sancho, backed out because of his high salary suggests that the problem is not one of pure ability, but of an imbalance between expectations and reality.

As for Juventus, they are making a smart gamble. If United accept the deal, they will get a player once valued at over £70m for next to nothing - apart from the wages that need to be negotiated. With Juventus lacking a breakthrough on the wing, Sancho could be a gamble worth taking, if they believe they can revive his career.

For MU, the Jadon Sancho story is not only a failed deal, but also a mirror reflecting the chaos in the transfer management over the years. Now, they are facing a difficult choice: carry on for another season in vain, or accept sacrifice in exchange for a few new opportunities.

Whichever way they go, one thing is certain: Jadon Sancho will no longer be part of Manchester United’s future. But how they part ways with him – quietly and hastily or carefully and wisely – will partly reflect the true stature of a club that was once a symbol of European power.
