Kane's Champions League dream remains unfulfilled. |
In the early hours of May 7th, Harry Kane had another explosive night in the Champions League, but the outcome for him and Bayern Munich was still disappointment.
In the second leg of the semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain at the Allianz Arena, Kane scored the equalizer in the 94th minute, making it 1-1. However, that result was not enough to help Bayern overturn their 4-5 defeat in the first leg. The Bundesliga representatives were eliminated with an aggregate score of 5-6 and watched their opponents advance to the final.
Nevertheless, Kane's late goal against PSG still helped him make Champions League history. The English striker became only the second player to score in six consecutive Champions League knockout matches, equaling the record set by Cristiano Ronaldo between 2012 and 2013.
Kane left Tottenham Hotspur to join Bayern Munich with the ambition of conquering the Champions League. However, the European title continues to elude the 32-year-old striker.
This season, Kane maintained an impressive performance with 56 goals in 49 matches across all competitions. He also played a major role in helping Bayern win the Bundesliga, but the Champions League trophy remains an unfulfilled dream.
On the opposite side, PSG showed the mettle of the reigning champions. Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the third minute, giving the French team a significant advantage.
Despite Bayern having 66% possession and 18 shots on goal, PSG held firm to secure their place in the final in Budapest.
Luis Enrique's team will face Arsenal in this season's Champions League final. They are very close to becoming the next team to successfully defend their title after Real Madrid.
