Novak Djokovic endured a tough opening match at Roland Garros, but the resilience of the 24-time Grand Slam champion helped him stage a successful comeback.

Novak Djokovic began his Roland Garros campaign with a hard-fought victory against home favorite Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. On Philippe-Chatrier court, the Serbian star needed four sets to overcome his opponent with a score of 5-7, 7-5, 6-1, 6-4 to advance to the second round.

From the start of the match, Djokovic faced many difficulties against Mpetshi Perricard's extremely powerful serves. However, boosted by the enthusiastic support from the French crowd, the home player played with renewed vigor and strength, taking advantage of Djokovic's inconsistency to win the first set.

The second set continued to be a major challenge for the former world number one. Djokovic repeatedly missed opportunities to break serve, including nine unsuccessful break points. However, at a crucial moment, the composure of the 24-time Grand Slam champion came to the fore. He successfully converted his tenth opportunity to level the match score.

That turning point helped Djokovic shed the pressure and completely take control of the match. Finding his rhythm better with his opponent's serves, the Serbian player quickly dominated, winning the third set swiftly 6-1 before closing out the match in the fourth set.

The victory, lasting 2 hours and 51 minutes, gave Djokovic his 102nd win at Roland Garros. He also made history with his 82nd appearance in the main draw of a Grand Slam men's singles tournament, surpassing Roger Federer and Feliciano Lopez. In the second round, Djokovic will face Valentin Royer.
