Mr. Ho Tan Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Association of the province, said that the association has implemented many practical activities to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. The association regularly organizes diplomatic receptions, diplomatic visits, and sends congratulatory messages and letters on important Korean holidays through the Korean Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. The association also coordinates many cultural and exchange events such as the Vietnam-Korea trade promotion fair, photo exhibitions, film weeks, and cultural exchange programs… contributing to promoting friendly cooperative relations between the people of the two countries, while also promoting the image of Vietnam, its people, and its culture.
Work related to overseas Vietnamese, in accordance with Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW dated March 26, 2004, of the Politburo, has been given due attention. Through various forms of connection, the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Association of An Giang province has encouraged overseas Vietnamese studying, working, and living in Korea to turn towards their homeland, participate in economic development, transfer science and technology, and contribute to the development of An Giang. The Association maintains and develops its relationship with the Korean Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, expanding its network of international partners, non-governmental organizations, businesses, and social and charitable organizations to mobilize resources for the socio-economic development of the locality. Many humanitarian and charitable activities and community development projects have also been implemented, supporting diligent students and people in difficult circumstances in the province, thereby helping to improve people's lives and strengthen the bond and understanding between the people of the two countries.
The association also focuses on external information and communication work. Through various forms, the association introduces to international friends information about Vietnam and its people, the policies and guidelines of the Party and State, as well as the achievements of the reform process. At the same time, it connects information with overseas Vietnamese in South Korea about the development of the country and An Giang province , creating opportunities for overseas Vietnamese to visit their homeland and contribute to local development.
The Vietnam-Korea Friendship Association of An Giang province also acts as a bridge to promote cooperation in the fields of economics, science, technology, and environment between businesses and training institutions in An Giang and their Korean partners. Cultural exchange programs, culinary events, and trade fairs between Vietnam and Korea are organized to introduce the beauty of the culture, history, and people of both countries. The Association collaborates with universities, vocational schools, industry associations, and businesses in Korea to organize thematic talks on "Multicultural Integration," provide scholarships, and introduce vocational training programs and job opportunities for high school students, university students, and young people.
According to Mr. Ho Tan Hung, in the coming time, the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Association of the province will continue to implement people-to-people diplomacy activities in accordance with Directive No. 12-CT/TW, dated January 5, 2022, of the Party Central Committee on strengthening the Party's leadership and improving the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation; closely adhering to the province's socio-economic development goals and the Provincial Party Committee's action program to implement the resolution of the 1st Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030. The Association will continue to consolidate, expand, and deepen the friendly cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Korea; take advantage of the support of the Korean Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and other resources in terms of capital and technology, contributing to promoting industrialization, modernization of production, improving product quality, and protecting the environment and responding to climate change. “The Vietnam-Korea Friendship Association of the province will continue to strive, be proactive and creative in its activities, promote the role of people-to-people diplomacy, contribute to building a comprehensive diplomatic relationship between the people of the two countries, maintain a peaceful and stable environment, and mobilize external resources to serve the socio-economic development of the locality,” said Mr. Ho Tan Hung.
