Tan Hiep commune currently has 28 hamlets, with over 66,000 residents. There are 49 religious and spiritual establishments in the area, with over 28,000 followers, accounting for over 42% of the population. In this locality with a large religious population, community bonds are fostered through many close-knit activities that take place daily.

For many years, the road through Tan Phat A and Tan Phuoc hamlets has been illuminated at night thanks to a solar-powered lighting system implemented through the efforts of the Virgin Mary Parish. Over 10km of illuminated road facilitates convenient travel for residents, especially during the rainy season and at night, and contributes to maintaining security and order in the area.

Father Nguyen Thanh Trieu, parish priest of Trinh Vuong Parish, said that the parish maintains many welfare activities for parishioners and people in the area. Each year, the parish supports the construction of two charity houses; awards scholarships to poor students; and gives gifts to the elderly, the lonely, the seriously ill, and the disabled during the Lunar New Year. During Christmas, the parish also mobilizes donations of gifts for needy households in Tan Phat and Tan Phuoc hamlets, mostly non-Catholics.

"What we hope for is that disadvantaged people will have better opportunities to improve their lives. When the local authorities launch activities to care for social welfare or build rural landscapes, parishioners actively participate because they want their villages to become more prosperous," Father Nguyen Thanh Trieu shared.

At Buu Son Pagoda, charitable activities also take place regularly. Mr. Phan Minh Tuan, Chairman of the Buu Son Red Cross branch, said that in 2025, the association carried out charitable and social work with a budget of nearly 500 million VND through giving Tet gifts, supporting poor patients, elderly people living alone, and awarding scholarships to students. In the first months of 2026, the association will continue to support the construction of two Red Cross houses in Tan Hiep and Thanh Dong communes; and provide subsidies to elderly people living alone totaling more than 80 million VND.

Mr. Tuan shared: “Many philanthropists, upon learning that there are still disadvantaged households in the locality, have proactively joined hands to provide support. Each gift or house that is given away is the result of contributions from many people. The Buu Son local Red Cross branch helps anyone who is in need, and over time, this has become a familiar practice in the locality.”

In Tan Hiep commune, the participation of religious institutions in building houses, giving gifts, or supporting poor and sick people has become a familiar sight for many years. Through these activities, the bonds between people of different religions in the community have become even stronger.

Mr. Do Thanh Cuong, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tan Hiep commune, said: “In the past period, the commune's Fatherland Front has focused on mobilizing religious leaders and officials to participate in social welfare activities, environmental protection, and maintaining cultural life in residential areas.” Visiting and congratulating religious establishments during holidays and festivals has been regularly maintained. Through this, the Fatherland Front coordinates the dissemination of information and encourages religious leaders and followers to comply with the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws; participate in maintaining security and order, and build a cultural life.

In addition, many effective "People's Mobilization" models in Tan Hiep commune have been implemented based on issues directly related to people's lives. The commune's Fatherland Front, in coordination with religious organizations, mobilizes people to collect waste, dredge canals, and clear waterways to serve production and daily life.

Many religious establishments in the area also participate in environmental protection models, encouraging followers to preserve the landscape of residential areas. To date, the commune has established 5 models of religious establishments participating in environmental protection and adaptation to climate change. The campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" continues to be implemented in accordance with the actual conditions of each residential area. The percentage of families meeting cultural standards in the commune is over 97%; the percentage of hamlets meeting cultural standards is nearly 98%.

Implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, in 2025, the Tan Hiep Commune Fatherland Front coordinated the review of poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households without stable housing to provide timely support for building new houses or repairing existing ones. Through this, the locality supported 107 households in building and repairing houses, with a total budget of over 5 billion VND. In the first months of 2026, the work of caring for poor and disadvantaged households continued to be maintained by the Fatherland Front and its member organizations, with the support of religious institutions and philanthropists.

According to Mr. Do Thanh Cuong, the key to building national unity at the local level is creating consensus among the people through actions closely related to daily life. This is the foundation for the locality to continue building cultural life, ensuring social security, and strengthening national unity.
