Map forecasting saltwater intrusion from May 25th to May 31st, 2026 in An Giang province (under the condition that the Vam Ba Lich sluice gate is not in operation).
During the week, the total flow of the Mekong River into the Mekong Delta changed slowly with a gradual upward trend and was about 5% higher than the same period in 2025 and the multi-year average. Water levels at inland stations in the Long Xuyen Quadrangle dropped rapidly on the first day of the week, then dropped more slowly over the next three days, and are likely to rise again later.
The tide at the estuary stations receded slowly until May 25th, then rose slowly and remained below alarm level I.
The highest daily salinity at the monitoring stations is changing slowly with a gradual decreasing trend. The highest daily salinity is 0.8 - 5 parts per thousand higher than the same period in 2025 and 0.5 - 1.5 parts per thousand higher than the multi-year average. The highest salinity occurs between approximately 3 PM and 7 PM (depending on the river branch).
On the Cai Be River, salinity of 4 parts per thousand penetrates approximately 10-12 km inland (Binh An commune). Salinity of 1 part per thousand penetrates approximately 13-15 km inland (Binh An commune).
On the Cai Lon River, salinity of 4 parts per thousand penetrates approximately 35-38 km inland (Go Quao commune), while salinity of 1 part per thousand penetrates approximately 40-42 km inland (Go Quao commune).
On the Cái Sắn canal, salinity of 1 part per thousand has intruded as far as the Quằng bridge (Thạnh Lộc commune).
