Leaders of the Dien Bien Department of Agriculture and Environment, along with officials, youth union members, and people of Tia Dinh commune, witnessed the launching ceremony of the emulation movement for planting and caring for coffee and macadamia trees.

Thanks to the responsible involvement of commune officials, civil servants, and agricultural extension staff, and the enthusiastic support of the people, by the end of April 2026, Tia Dinh commune had registered a total of 631 hectares of coffee plantations. However, based on practical conditions and the land use planning in the area, the commune finalized the figures for new coffee planting at 150 hectares and macadamia nut planting at 100 hectares.

To ensure the quality of the planted coffee trees and their healthy growth, starting from May 25th, Tia Dinh commune is calling on officials, union members, youth, and all residents to participate in planting and caring for new coffee trees. In each village, the commune has assigned agricultural extension workers to stay on-site and guide each household on planting and caring techniques.

Comrade Nguyen Van Tang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tia Dinh commune, joined the movement to plant and care for coffee and macadamia trees with the people in the commune.

Along with launching the movement to plant and care for coffee and macadamia trees, Tia Dinh commune has widely publicized among the people the emulation movement "Skilled hole diggers - Skilled hole-digging households - Villages completing early and ensuring quality" and the movement "Skilled tree-care households with beautiful, large-scale, high-quality orchards" launched annually by the province.

It is known that, in addition to coffee and macadamia trees, the People's Committee of Tia Dinh commune has developed a separate plan to guide farmers in intercropping peanuts with coffee trees in the first one and two years to help farmers generate additional income and improve the soil for crop cultivation. The People's Committee of Tia Dinh commune has assigned the commune's General Service Center to lead the research and selection of suitable peanut varieties for intercropping with coffee trees (in the first one to two years) before the trees form a canopy, ensuring good plant growth, pest and disease resistance, and adaptation to the local weather and soil conditions.

Throughout the process of farmers planting coffee, macadamia, and intercropping peanuts, Tia Dinh commune assigns agricultural officials and extension workers to closely monitor and guide farmers in caring for the crops and promptly detecting pests and diseases.

Emphasizing the importance of the movement to plant and care for coffee and macadamia trees, which was launched for the first time in Tia Dinh commune, Comrade Nguyen Van Tang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tia Dinh commune, said: Tia Dinh is a mountainous commune that still faces many difficulties compared to other communes; transportation is difficult; agricultural production of farmers mainly depends on nature, so productivity is low.

Therefore, the conversion of food crops on the hillside to coffee and macadamia cultivation is extremely necessary for the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Tia Dinh commune in the journey to build Tia Dinh into a livable land by 2030, as set forth by the Commune Party Committee.
