This is the second fatal shark attack in Australia in just one week, following a similar incident in Western Australia.
Experts believe that Australia has a higher rate of shark attacks than some other regions due to a combination of factors. Firstly, the country has a very long coastline with many pristine areas that are difficult to monitor. Secondly, activities such as swimming and surfing are very popular, bringing people into frequent contact with the sharks' natural habitat.
In addition, changes in water temperature and ocean currents cause sharks to move closer to shore. Heavy rains, turbid water, and river runoff increase shark activity near river mouths.
