Opening Ceremony of the "Tet Reunion - Spring of Gratitude to the Party" Program and "Trade Union Tet Market" in Can Tho in 2025

On the morning of January 11th, the "Tet Reunion - Spring Gratitude to the Party" and "Trade Union Tet Market" programs for 2025, organized by the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Federation of Labor, took place at the Can Tho Investment Promotion, Trade and Exhibition Center.

Delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate the "Tet Reunion - Spring Gratitude to the Party" and "Trade Union Tet Market" programs for 2025.

At the program, Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai - President of the Can Tho City Labor Union - stated that, with the motto "All union members and workers have a Tet holiday," and "no one is left behind," this year's "Tet Reunion - Spring Gratitude to the Party" program presented 2,700 gifts from Party, State, and City leaders to union members and workers; 8,800 gifts from the City's trade union funds; 5,000 essential goods; 2,570 online Tet market shopping vouchers; and visited and extended Tet greetings to several units on duty during Tet to maintain order, environmental hygiene, hospitals, and on New Year's Eve, with a total program cost of nearly 6 billion VND.

Mr. Tran Viet Truong, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, and Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai, President of the Can Tho City Federation of Labor, presented gifts to union members and workers in difficult circumstances at the program.

Specifically, the "Trade Union Tet Market" in 2025 will feature 65 stalls selling quality products and goods at discounted prices ranging from 10-70% or more, and 4 "zero-cost" stalls serving union members and workers. Alongside this, there will be many practical activities for workers in difficult circumstances, such as: a singing competition for officials, civil servants, and workers; a graceful fashion show of traditional Vietnamese ao dai and ao ba ba dresses; making and cooking banh tet (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) to give to workers in rented accommodations; traffic safety and safe driving awareness campaigns; social insurance counseling; job placement services; and many cultural, artistic, and folk game activities to create a healthy playground for union members and workers to participate in the program.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Tran Viet Truong, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, extended his greetings and encouragement to the city's workers and laborers, urging them to enthusiastically participate in labor and production emulation, and to make positive contributions to the city's socio -economic development. The Chairman of the People's Committee affirmed that the city's achievements in recent times have been significantly contributed to by all levels of trade unions and the workforce, including union members, in the city.

The "0-dong" stall serves union members and workers in difficult circumstances.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City requested the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Federation of Labor to actively advise the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee on leading the workers', civil servants', and laborers' movement and trade union activities to meet the requirements of the new situation. In particular, attention should be paid to issues of employment, wages, labor laws, implementation of grassroots democracy regulations, and caring for the material and spiritual lives of union members and workers.
