Attending the event were: Ms. Lam Thi Phuong Thanh, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Vu Dai Thang, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee and Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee; Ms. Phung Thi Hong Ha, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Council; and Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Mai, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Council.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Dao Duc Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Dong Commune, stated that Phu Dong Commune was established based on the administrative reorganization of 8 communes and towns belonging to the former Gia Lam District. It has a population of nearly 112,000 people and an area of nearly 42 km². As the northeastern gateway to the capital, the locality enjoys a favorable location, connecting with many dynamically developing areas.
According to local leaders, many key transportation infrastructure projects of the central government and the city are being implemented in the area, creating momentum to promote socio -economic development in the 2025-2030 period. Along with that, Phu Dong commune focuses on developing culture and education, ensuring social welfare, and maintaining national defense and security.
Besides its advantageous geographical location, Phu Dong is also a land rich in historical and cultural traditions, with a system of relics and festivals bearing the distinctive characteristics of Kinh Bac - Thang Long. Prominent among these is the Giong Festival at Phu Dong Temple – a UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The Giong Festival at Phu Dong Temple in 2026 will last until May 25th, 2026 (corresponding to the 9th day of the 4th lunar month) with activities including: incense offering ceremony by local people and visitors from all over; sports, culture, arts, water puppetry, traditional wrestling, rice cooking competition, folk games, traditional art performances…; opening of the Culture and Tourism Week and tours, experiences, and introduction of local tourism products and cuisine ; opening of the rural market stalls, displaying and selling OCOP products and promoting tourism…
