Upon discovering the fire, residents of the apartment building immediately shouted for help, activated the fire alarm, and quickly moved down the stairwell to escape to the ground floor. Because the incident occurred early in the morning while many people were still asleep, the evacuation was chaotic.
Upon receiving the report, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Fire Prevention and Rescue Force dispatched numerous specialized fire trucks and dozens of officers and soldiers to quickly reach the scene.
Firefighters deployed water hoses and used ladder trucks to access the upper-floor apartment in order to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring buildings.
By approximately 6:30 AM the same day, the authorities had completely brought the fire under control. Initially, authorities determined that the fire caused no casualties, but it destroyed a significant amount of property and belongings inside the apartment on the upper floor.
The incident occurred during the morning rush hour, causing traffic congestion on Dinh Bo Linh Street as authorities had to cordon off part of the scene to facilitate firefighting efforts.
