On the morning of May 18th, the Mekong Delta 2023 Digital Transformation and Innovation Startup Week, organized by the Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Informatics Association, was inaugurated in Hau Giang province.

Attending the opening ceremony were over 1,000 delegates, including leading experts and speakers on digital transformation and innovative entrepreneurship from central ministries and agencies; state management agencies; associations and professional organizations; and organizations, corporations, and businesses from Hau Giang province, Ho Chi Minh City, and many other provinces and cities nationwide.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Dong Van Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hau Giang province, said: “The Mekong Delta 2023 Digital Transformation and Innovation Startup Week is organized to raise awareness and create opportunities for exchange and cooperation between state agencies and businesses providing digital transformation products and solutions, contributing to improving the effectiveness of digital transformation and innovation startups, creating momentum to promote socio -economic development of Hau Giang province in particular and the region and the whole country in general. In addition, it supports the promotion and attraction of investment from technology businesses into the Hau Giang Digital Technology Park; strengthens the linkage of the innovation startup ecosystem, connecting the province's ecosystem with the ecosystem of the region and the country.”

The Mekong Delta 2023 Digital Transformation and Innovation Startup Week took place from May 18th to 20th, featuring a series of rich and practical activities, workshops, and exhibitions focusing on areas such as: digital transformation for government agencies, businesses, agriculture , healthcare, education, and tourism; workshops on investment promotion, trade promotion, and training of information technology human resources... Notably, there were over 100 booths showcasing innovative startup products and models, and digital transformation solutions from localities, organizations, and businesses both domestically and internationally.

Mr. Lam Nguyen Hai Long, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Informatics Association, shared: “Through a year of working alongside the province, the Ho Chi Minh City Informatics Association has gained a deeper understanding and witnessed the determination and aspirations of the provincial leaders in promoting digital transformation activities aimed at developing the province's socio-economic development. Through our interactions, we have seen a positive shift in the awareness of digital transformation among officials, civil servants, businesses, and citizens. In particular, businesses and citizens are beginning to be conscious of and eager to participate in the digital transformation process. These initial results of digital transformation activities have contributed positively to improving the investment and business environment, boosting investment attraction, and developing the province's economic sectors.”

According to Mr. Lam Nguyen Hai Long, Hau Giang is a province still facing many difficulties but has achieved many commendable results through outstanding growth in GRDP and socio-economic indicators. A highlight of the province's digital transformation and IT application is the effectiveness of the Community Digital Transformation Team; and the exemplary digital transformation model at the district level. Hau Giang has a good approach by allocating digital transformation funding down to the commune level… and most impressively, the establishment of the Hau Giang Digital Technology Park in 2023 – a model that has received strong support from the Ministry of Information and Communications and the technology business community. Through this year's Digital Technology Week, the Ho Chi Minh City Informatics Association hopes that this activity will not only contribute to promoting Hau Giang province but also serve as a foundation for regional linkages and socio-economic development in the Mekong Delta region. This is the second year of a three-year program in which the Association is committed to co-hosting major events on the IT and Digital Transformation industry for the Mekong Delta region with Hau Giang province, with Hau Giang as the destination.”
Within the framework of the Mekong Delta 2023 Digital Transformation and Innovation Startup Week, there will be 9 workshops and 8 side activities associated with the Experience Zone - exhibition with nearly 90 booths, including 40 booths showcasing innovative startup products and OCOP products; and nearly 50 booths introducing reputable technology equipment, products, and digital transformation solutions from organizations, corporations, and businesses nationwide.
