Quang Tri Province's Shared Data Warehouse Launched

This morning, October 4th, the Steering Committee for Digital Transformation of Quang Tri province organized the Quang Tri Provincial Digital Transformation Workshop 2024 with the theme: “Innovative Digital Applications for Socio -Economic Development” and inaugurated the Quang Tri Provincial Shared Data Warehouse. In his opening remarks at the workshop, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam emphasized: Recognizing the role and importance of digital transformation in socio-economic development and as an opportunity for Quang Tri province to make breakthroughs, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee have issued resolutions, projects, and specialized plans on digital transformation with more than 40 specific tasks across all three main pillars: digital government, digital economy, and digital society. An annual budget of approximately 40 billion VND has been allocated to strive for the digital economy to account for about 10% of the province's gross regional product (GRDP) by 2025 and about 15% by 2030, gradually raising the province's Digital Transformation Index (DTI) ranking to the upper-middle group nationwide.

In 2023, Quang Tri province's digital transformation ranking improved by two positions compared to 2022, with positive changes in key indicators such as digital government, digital economy, and digital society. The proportion of the digital economy in the province's GRDP is estimated at 9.03%, ranking 26th nationwide. Infrastructure, especially digital infrastructure, has received significant investment and development; the telecommunications and broadband internet network has widespread coverage, creating a foundation for the development of the digital economy and digital society.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee stated that this workshop, themed "Creative Digital Applications for Socio-Economic Development," is expected to provide useful consultations for building a digital transformation strategy for socio-economic development that is suitable to the province's characteristics and situation. It clearly demonstrates Quang Tri province's strong determination, along with the rest of the country, to successfully implement the national digital transformation program. At the same time, it is also an opportunity for officials, civil servants, and citizens in the province to learn about and enhance their understanding of digital transformation – a prerequisite for its successful implementation.

At the same time, it is requested that the heads of Party committees, government agencies, and businesses fully understand, agree with, take responsibility for, and be determined to implement the digital transformation process. Focus on promoting the application of information technology, building a digital platform to connect and share data between agencies and organizations, comprehensively digitizing state management activities, providing high-level online public services, creating a foundation for a streamlined apparatus, and genuinely reforming administrative procedures.

The workshop heard presentations related to AI solutions in digitizing administrative procedure results; cybersecurity issues in promoting digital transformation in Quang Tri; solutions for deploying virtual assistants to support civil servants' work and administrative management; digital transformation in agriculture and rural development; solutions for managing specialized databases at the district level, etc.

At the workshop, delegates performed the opening ceremony for the provincial shared data warehouse. Representatives of telecommunications businesses in the province donated smartphones to support people in difficult circumstances through the Department of Information and Communications.
