The first impression of Phu Quy Island is its rustic charm. A picturesque strip of land right on the tranquil Trieu Duong Bay. While Trieu Duong Bay offers vast open spaces with long stretches of white sand beaches, the island's small beach is as beautiful as a painting, with its crescent shape extending inland. Immersing yourself in the cool waters of Phu Quy Island will be one of the most memorable moments every summer.
The island boasts several notable man-made structures that visitors should definitely see when visiting Phu Quy, such as the flagpole marking national sovereignty . The Phu Quy flagpole is one of the most beautiful and sturdy flagpoles built on the strategically important islands along Vietnam's coastline. It's not just a place to stop and take photos, but also holds sacred historical significance and educational value. Next is the "eye of the island" – the Phu Quy Lighthouse – built on the summit of Mount Cam, in Ngu Phung commune. Located at an altitude of 108 meters above sea level, the lighthouse features a box-shaped design with two contrasting light and dark colors. Having operated for over 25 years, the Phu Quy Lighthouse is considered one of the largest lighthouses in Vietnam.
Visiting Phu Quy Island also offers tourists the opportunity to experience a skillful blend of history and modernity. Linh Son Ancient Pagoda, for over 100 years, has been a place of worship for the island's inhabitants. Amidst the salty sea, Linh Son Pagoda is incredibly tranquil. The sound of the temple bells blends with the waves and wind, creating a sense of peace and serenity within this picturesque landscape.
From the Linh Son Pagoda and Cao Cat Mountain scenic area, one can see the surrounding fishing villages, the temple of Princess Ban Tranh, and the lighthouse on Cam Mountain. Particularly beautiful are the islands of Tranh, Trung, and Den on the distant horizon, especially at sunset. A notable modern landmark is the Phu Quy wind farm. With three turbine towers reaching 60 meters in height and each rotating over 75 meters in diameter, standing majestically on the green lawn, this is the first wind power plant in Vietnam operating on a hybrid wind-diesel model. The Phu Quy wind farm not only brings a refreshing breeze to the potentially rich land of Binh Thuan but is also warmly welcomed by tourists as a backdrop for memorable photos.Heritage Magazine
