Our first stop was Pha Din Top – a tourist attraction and experience developed by the Pha Din Tourism Cooperative. Located at an altitude of over 1,600 meters above sea level, it's likened to a "balcony" amidst the clouds of Northwest Vietnam. Below, the majestic mountain ranges stretch endlessly, the winding road like a thread, and villages appear and disappear in the gently drifting white clouds. In the early morning or late afternoon, sunlight filtering through the clouds creates a poetic scene, offering visitors a sense of relaxation and tranquility. Ms. Nguyen Diep Lam Anh, a tourist from Hanoi, shared: "During my exploration of Northwest Vietnam, Pha Din Pass impressed me the most with its still very natural landscape. If properly developed while preserving this pristine beauty, Pha Din will surely be a long-term attractive destination."

Pha Din Pass, with its houses, creates a wild and majestic landscape.

Leaving Pha Din Top, following the winding concrete roads along the mountainside, we visited the tea plantation of Thu Dan Tea Company Limited, a popular "check-in" spot attracting many tourists. The tea plantation appeared like a vibrant painting, with rows of tea plants cultivated organically, forming soft shapes like fingerprints spread across the hillside. Along the path, purple rhododendron flowers blended with the lush green of the tea plantations, creating a peaceful and captivating scene. According to the local tourism development plan, the roads leading to the tea plantation area have been comprehensively invested in, concreted all the way to the foot of the plantations, and integrated with seasonal flower landscaping. Mr. Pham Van Doanh, Director of Thu Dan Tea Company Limited, said: By 2025, the tea plantation expects to welcome approximately 5,000 visitors. Developing the tea growing area in conjunction with ecotourism has enhanced the value of the product, protected the environment, and created a destination where tourists can better understand tea plants and the lives of tea growers.

Following the merger, Binh Thuan has many advantages for developing community-based tourism. It boasts Pha Din Pass, renowned as one of the "four great mountain passes" of the Northwest region, and has been classified as a National Historical Monument since 2020. Furthermore, over 90% of the commune's population are ethnic Thai and Mong people, possessing a rich cultural heritage preserved through stilt house architecture, traditional costumes, festivals, and unique cuisine. In addition, specialized agriculture , particularly tea and fruit farming, is gradually shifting towards organic, environmentally friendly practices. These factors create a crucial foundation for the locality to develop experiential tourism products.

Mr. Duong Gia Dinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Thuan commune, affirmed: Developing tourism is an important direction in the local economic structure, but it must ensure sustainability. The commune has identified community tourism associated with organic agriculture, natural landscapes, and ethnic culture as suitable to the actual conditions. In the coming time, we will continue to coordinate with provincial departments and agencies to complete the planning, train human resources, improve product quality, and gradually make Binh Thuan an attractive destination on the Pha Din Pass tourist route, contributing to building a sustainable new rural area.

Late in the afternoon, as we left Binh Thuan, clouds rolled over the slopes of Pha Din mountain, gently blanketing the villages in a hazy white mist. In that peaceful setting, one could clearly feel the transformation of a land rising from its inherent values. Tourism in Binh Thuan is not noisy or rushed, but slow and persistent, just as the people here preserve their tea plantations, forests, and culture to offer visitors authentic and memorable experiences in this gateway to the Northwest of Son La.
