From the center of Tien Yen district to Khe San waterfall is about 9km, following National Highway 18C towards Binh Lieu district. Currently, the road from Phong Du commune to Khe San waterfall has been paved with concrete, making it very convenient and easy for tourists to travel.
Khe San Waterfall remains almost completely untouched by human intervention. The waterfall consists of two tiers, each about 15 meters high, with water cascading down to form a crystal-clear pool at its base.
According to locals, Khe San Waterfall offers a unique experience in each season. In summer, visitors are treated to a spectacular display of the powerful, cascading waterfall with its white foam. In autumn and winter, the waterfall is gentler due to the reduced water flow. The ideal time to visit Khe San Waterfall is summer, as the temperature is similar to Da Lat, remaining below 26°C despite the hot and humid summer weather. Around the lake are many small, shallow pools, perfect for children to swim in while the whole family explores.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc, a tourist from Mong Cai, shared: "During the recent April 30th holiday, we chose Tien Yen as our destination for a relaxing trip. The most impressive thing for us was Khe San Waterfall. After climbing over the cliffs leading to the source of the waterfall, we were able to immerse ourselves in the clear, cool water and finally stop to enjoy delicious local specialties such as free-range chicken and sturgeon."
To cater to the needs of tourists visiting and experiencing the area, one household has opened a restaurant offering local specialties such as Tien Yen chicken, stream snails, sturgeon, grilled local pork, local buffalo meat, and "gật gù" cake. They have also built stilt houses and palm leaf huts for tourists to stay in during the day.
To attract tourists to Khe San Waterfall and other tourist destinations in the commune, Mr. Nguyen The Nam, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Phong Du commune, said: In the coming time, the commune will implement the "One Day Experience with Phong Du" tourist route. Here, tourists can experience the traditional Tay ethnic stilt house, the Tay Ethnic Culture Village with folk art performances, Tay ethnic performances, folk games, cuisine , fishing and swimming at Khe San Waterfall...
It can be said that Khe San Waterfall is a priceless gift that nature has bestowed upon Phong Du commune in particular and Tien Yen district in general. Without modern entertainment services and not yet being commercialized for tourism , what attracts visitors to Khe San is the majestic beauty of the mountains and forests, the pristine nature, and the refreshing coolness of the crystal-clear, white water cascading through the forest.
