Inauguration of the freshwater reservoir infrastructure project along the Lang The river bank (phase 1)

On the morning of September 29, at Nguyet Hoa ward, the Provincial People's Committee held the inauguration ceremony of phase 1 of the freshwater reservoir infrastructure project along the Lang The river bank (package number 30). The project welcomes the 1st Congress of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Minh Dung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Lam Minh Dang - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; comrades of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Provincial Party Committee, and a large number of local people.

The infrastructure project of the freshwater reservoir along the Lang The river bank (phase 1) has a total investment of over 1,300 billion VND. Of which, the central budget invests 103 billion VND, the rest is from the provincial budget.

The scale of phase 1 of the project includes main items such as: The main road along Lang The river is 8,131m long, 7 connecting branch roads with a total length of 2,046m, 3 traffic bridges, drainage system for agricultural production, lighting system on both sides of the roads...

The project aims to ensure water security, proactively provide fresh water for agricultural production, daily life, industry and services for Nguyet Hoa ward and Binh Phu commune; at the same time meet the requirements in the context of climate change and rising sea levels.

The project contributes to preventing saline intrusion, high tides, flooding, limiting riverbank erosion, protecting people's lives and property, and maintaining stable production land areas in the area. Forming and connecting a synchronous traffic system, facilitating trade, circulation of agricultural products, etc., promoting sustainable socio -economic development for the whole region.

Mr. Nguyen Quynh Thien - Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee spoke at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Quynh Thien - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the local government to promote the sense of responsibility, organize safe and effective exploitation; at the same time, proactively maintain and repair regularly, keep the landscape clean and beautiful, ensuring the long-term life of the project.

Relevant departments, branches and sectors coordinate closely and provide timely support in management and exploitation, while linking the use of works with the development of agricultural production, culture, festivals, services and tourism along the Lang The river, creating more momentum for local socio-economic development.
