On December 29, the Ministry of Education and Training announced sample questions for the high school graduation exam from 2025, including history.
New points in the exam structure
The history sample test is divided into two parts:
Part I includes multiple choice questions, with 24 questions on recognition and comprehension, and no application questions. This is a type of question that students are very familiar with in periodic tests at middle school, high school and high school graduation exams for many years.
Part II has 4 true/false questions, which are application questions. In a question with 4 ideas, candidates choose true/false. This is a new format used in the high school graduation exam from 2025, but the periodic tests (written tests) for middle and high school have been applied for a long time.
Many history teachers believe that the new point of the history sample test is part II, with true/false questions.
To choose right/wrong, candidates need to have a large and comprehensive knowledge of history. Therefore, students must actively read books, documents and have the ability to think (read and understand), apply knowledge and understand the meaning of the event to determine the correct answer. There is no room for rote learning, memorization or choosing by "luck", guessing, or guessing tricks.
For example, in part II, question 2 - c) The Lam Son uprising could only be restored through the Proclamation of Victory over the Wu . True/false questions are suitable for the goal of promoting students' qualities and abilities in the 2018 General Education Program. Therefore, teachers need to have teaching methods according to the new direction of the exam to actively promote, especially specific abilities (professional abilities) for students in problem solving.
With the sample exam for high school graduation in history, candidates must have comprehensive capacity, knowledge and skills to achieve high scores.
It's not easy to get a 10.
In part II, it is unreasonable for candidates to only choose 1 correct answer in 1 question (1 question has 4 answers) and get 0.1 point.
Therefore, a history teacher suggested that if a candidate chooses exactly 1 idea in a question, it should be counted as 0.25 points to ensure fairness. Thus, a candidate choosing exactly 4 ideas in a question will get 1.0 point.
In general, the structure of the illustrative high school graduation exam for the subject of history creates favorable conditions for admission based on ability, in accordance with students' career orientation and the 2018 General Education Program.
However, candidates must have comprehensive capacity, knowledge and skills to achieve maximum score, in other words, it is difficult to get 10 points for history.
