To welcome the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, from August 19th Square to the central flower garden at Km5… images of elaborately sculpted horses appear, bringing a warm and hopeful spring atmosphere.

Horses gallop and prance amidst the vibrant spring blossoms. Each piece is meticulously crafted, from the lines and shapes to the colors and decorative materials, creating a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.

At the central flower garden of Km5, the golden horse mascot stands tall and powerful, embodying a dynamic, groundbreaking, and progressive spirit. The horses are sculpted in a modern style with a glossy surface, placed on sturdy circular pedestals, creating a visual focal point for the entire space. Behind them is a stylized, flat horse motif decorated with traditional patterns, evoking folk art and creating a connection between traditional and contemporary elements.

The mascot for 2026 was chosen in a traditional style, reflecting the values of inheritance and honoring national cultural identity, in line with the orientation of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values in the context of modern development.

Furthermore, the construction units created mascot sculptures that are both aesthetically pleasing and relatable to the community, contributing to traditional education , fostering cultural pride, and creating a unique identity for Lao Cai province.

Simultaneously, the decoration of trees and ornamental plants in the Km5 administrative center, including the square, gardens, main spatial axes, access gateways, and landscape focal points, is also being urgently carried out. Greenery and fresh flowers, with the main colors being red and yellow, bring vitality to the spring season.

To give the streets a fresh new look, 25 members of the Greenery and Park Management Team ( Yen Bai Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company) spent several days trimming grass, colorful flowering plants, ornamental trees, whitewashing tree trunks, and installing over 200 silk flower pots, more than 100 composite plastic flower pots, and nearly 150 trees along the sidewalks.

Despite the often unfavorable weather, the workers braved the rain, wind, and cold, starting work at 6:30 AM, sometimes even working overtime until late at night.

Team leader of the Greenery and Park Management Team, Phan Hong Truong, shared: “Despite the large workload, we still strived to complete the project on schedule. We are very happy to bring a new look to the streets this spring.”

Under the careful hands of the workers, clusters of Dalat chrysanthemums, red daffodils, petunias, chrysanthemums, poinsettias, and geraniums are successively blooming in 19/8 Square, Hong Ha Flower Garden, Nguyen Thai Hoc Historical Site, Nguyen Van Cu, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Au Co streets, and traffic islands.

Besides planting flowers and caring for ornamental plants, the work of reviewing and repairing the lighting and decorative lighting systems in parks and fountains, ensuring 100% operation, is also being carried out. From the beginning of the twelfth lunar month, the Lighting System Management Team of Yen Bai Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company has been inspecting, repairing, and replacing broken light bulbs on the roads under its management.

Mr. Le Ba Duy, a member of the Street Lighting System Operation and Management Team, said: "During Tet (Lunar New Year), the workload is usually two to three times heavier than usual, but all team members strive to work hard to ensure the streets are brightly lit at night, serving people celebrating the New Year."

In addition to street lighting, LED strips have also been installed along major roads such as Dinh Tien Hoang, Yen Ninh, Dien Bien , Au Co, and Nguyen Tat Thanh. Particularly, thanks to the lighting effects from reflective barriers and decorative LED lights, the provincial center looks even more magnificent at night. All of this creates a colorful spectacle, making visitors feel like they are walking through a spring forest, returning to a close connection with nature.

Urban beautification and landscape decoration for the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026 are of great importance, contributing to building the image of the province's political and administrative center. This is also a solution to improve the quality of public spaces, create scenic highlights, serve the needs of people for sightseeing and community activities, and contribute to promoting the image of Lao Cai to tourists.
