Commencement of a railway renovation project worth more than VND 2.000 billion in Quang Binh

“In recent times, the Ministry of Transport has coordinated with ministries and branches, actively working with donors, directly the Korean Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) to mobilize investment resources in project to upgrade railway transport infrastructure. To date, two projects to renovate the Hoa Duyet - Thanh Luyen area and renovate the railway in the Khe Net pass area have completed investment procedures. The completion of these projects will contribute to improving the capacity of the unified railway line in the Vinh - Dong Hoi section", Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy emphasized.
For his part, Mr. Jin Saeun, Chief Representative of the Korean Economic Cooperation and Development Fund (EDCF) in Vietnam, said that through the Cooperation Fund, the Korean Government provided an ODA loan worth 78 million USD. to finance a project to improve the existing North-South railway line by improving speed and exploitation capacity.
“The railway improvement project in the Khe Net Pass area is EDCF's first project in the railway sector in Vietnam. This project is expected to strengthen cooperation in the railway sector between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Korea; contributing to the transfer of advanced Korean technology in the railway sector as well as strengthening the economic relationship between the two Governments," Mr. Jin Saeun shared.
It is known that the Khe Net Pass area railway improvement project includes 2 packages, with package XL01 constructing 2 railway tunnels, total length of 935 m, implementation time of 23 months by the joint venture of Ilsung Company - Implementation by Deo Ca Group. Of which, tunnel 1 is 620 m long, tunnel 2 is 393 m long, tunnel gauge is 10 m, designed according to grade I railway tunnel standards.
Package XL02 constructs bridges, railways, signal information and remaining projects by the joint venture Ilsung - Railway Construction Corporation (RCC), construction time is 22 months.
The total route has a length of 6.819 m, of which new construction: 4.564 m and renovation: 2.255 m. The main project includes 2 tunnels, 3 bridges and 1 train station.

Once completed, the project will improve railway infrastructure, increase speed, and shorten train journeys on the Hanoi - City railway. Ho Chi Minh City in the coming years, ensuring smooth, orderly, safe rail transport operations, improving capacity and quality of transport services.
It is expected that the railway improvement project in the Khe Net Pass area will be completed in December 12.
This is also proactive, improving capacity and experience to prepare for the development of Vietnam's railways and metro as set out in the development planning of the transport industry.
“Deo Ca Group will consider this project as a “sport field” to deploy training work.
