At Nguyen Trai Secondary School in To Hieu Ward, the atmosphere during the History lesson was vibrant and enthusiastic. Teachers transformed themselves into storytellers, skillfully combining documentary videos and visual images projected onto the screen to transport students back to the glorious years of the nation's history. Along with regular lessons, the school also diversified its methods of conveying history lessons by integrating them into flag-raising ceremonies, STEM model creation competitions, and organizing "back to the roots" trips to historical sites. This provided students with meaningful, practical learning experiences, reinforcing their understanding of the country's and local history.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu, a history teacher at Nguyen Trai Secondary School, shared: "New teaching methods help students proactively explore the lesson, improve their presentation skills, and work in groups. In each lesson, I combine some traditional methods such as drawing mind maps and collecting videos and documents to give students a visual, easy-to-understand, and memorable experience."

At Son La Specialized High School, given its unique position as a leading educational institution, teaching and learning History requires in-depth knowledge and high-level critical thinking. Teachers have proactively innovated, increased the application of technology and digitized lectures, and used interactive online platforms to design games to explore history, keeping the classroom atmosphere lively and engaging. Historical events are even dramatized, with students writing scripts, directing, preparing props, and embodying historical figures; or they organize group learning, developing historical topics into short documentary videos and professionally designed infographics...

For over 10 years teaching History at Son La Specialized High School, Ms. Pham Thi Thuy has become an inspiration to generations of students with her lively and emotionally rich history lessons. She is also the teacher who directly guides and prepares the school's History gifted student team for the national History competition, achieving many impressive results. From 2021 to the present, the team she has coached has won 14 national awards and 89 provincial awards in the History gifted student competitions. Ms. Thuy shared: "In my lessons, I don't focus heavily on theory but proactively suggest basic knowledge of the lesson to students, show relevant images and videos, and combine lively learning methods such as history-related games... providing students with visual, vivid, and inspiring experiences."

Mai Thanh Truc, a 12th-grade history student from Son La Specialized High School, who is passionate about history and won first prize in the 2025-2026 National High School History Competition, said: "Under the guidance of my teachers, I used mind maps to summarize historical knowledge, clearly outlining main and supporting points, and remembering lessons more deeply. My classmates and I often study in groups to support each other in reviewing, sharing, and exploring new knowledge."

The Department of Education and Training emphasizes and encourages schools to innovate and be creative in teaching history. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, stated: The Department encourages schools to innovate their history teaching methods to create enthusiasm and a love for the subject among students. Simultaneously, it collaborates with other sectors to create opportunities and cooperate with schools in organizing extracurricular activities related to history, practical experiences at historical sites, exchanges, seminars, traditional talks with historical witnesses, and theatrical performances about historical events... creating an effective learning environment for students.

Thanks to innovative teaching methods, History is gradually becoming more engaging and meaningful, attracting students' attention. This contributes to traditional education, fosters revolutionary ideals, and helps the younger generation appreciate the past, cherish the present, and live responsibly and proudly, continuing to write the glorious history of the nation.
