Former Director of Gia Lai Department of Education and Training prosecuted.

Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen Tu Son, former Director of the Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai province, has been prosecuted in connection with violations related to the implementation of projects to purchase some information technology application software to serve teaching and learning, and the financial activities of the department during the period 2015-2021.

Previously, through inspections, the Gia Lai Provincial Inspectorate discovered numerous violations in 14 projects implemented at the Gia Lai Department of Education and Training, such as: school management software - management of revenue and electronic invoices, E-learning lesson planning support software, and the 2018 enrollment software for primary and secondary schools… with a total amount exceeding 33 billion VND.

The total amount of irregularities in these projects was 2.3 billion VND. The case was subsequently transferred to the Criminal Investigation Agency, and the Gia Lai Provincial Police issued a decision to initiate criminal proceedings, simultaneously indicting and detaining Mr. Truong Quy Suu, former Head of the Planning and Finance Department of the agency, for 4 months on charges of violating regulations on the management and use of state assets, causing losses and waste.

Between April 2018 and October 2020, Mr. Nguyen Tu Son, in his role as Director of the Gia Lai Department of Education and Training, allowed numerous violations to occur in investment and procurement at 8 out of 14 projects. As the head of the department, Mr. Son failed to adequately inspect, supervise, and direct the process, leading to these violations.
