Publicizing the “blacklist” of medical examination and treatment establishments that are not licensed or operating in violation of their profession; applying appropriate fines; and suspending operations are drastic measures implemented by the Department of Health to rectify the “chaotic” situation of unlicensed medical establishments that are operating openly in Kon Tum city, especially in the field of dentistry.
In recent years, in Kon Tum city, there have been more and more non-public dental clinics. However, the operations of these clinics have revealed some limitations and shortcomings in the management of practice conditions and physical facilities, affecting people's trust in other legal private clinics.
Mr. Tran Van Duong in village 2, Sa Thay town (Sa Thay district) said: Due to periodontitis, my molars have been loose for quite a while. Following the introduction of an acquaintance, I went to the dental clinic on the 2nd floor of NVN street in Thang Loi ward (Kon Tum city) for a check-up. After the check-up, the doctor extracted 2 molars on the right and left, 1 upper tooth and 1 lower tooth, and sold me medicine to take home for 3 days for nearly 600,000 VND.

Because of the difficulty in eating and drinking due to missing molars, near Tet holiday, I went down to get new porcelain teeth to replace them. After the examination, the doctor here advised: If I had to get new teeth, each one would cost about 15-20 million VND, but it would take 3-6 months to complete. Because my family did not have enough money, I had to return to Sa Thay. Only recently did I know that this dental clinic was operating "underground". Luckily, I did not have enough money that day, otherwise if I had done it now, I would not know what to do, I might have "lost money and suffered".
In fact, in Kon Tum city and in other localities of the province, there are still cases of "underground" dental clinics that do not have or do not have full licenses according to regulations of the health sector. However, these facilities still openly operate with diverse forms and scales, which causes "confusion" for patients when choosing private clinics for medical examination and treatment. And, no one can guarantee that the activities of these "underground" medical examination and treatment facilities do not affect the health and lives of the people. Therefore, the strengthening of inspection and examination to rectify, punish, and even revoke the operating licenses of medical examination and treatment facilities that do not comply with regulations is what the Department of Health has been directing and implementing resolutely with "tough" measures to contribute to protecting the health and lives of the people and re-establishing "order in medical practice" in the province.
Through inspection and examination of the activities of non-public medical examination and treatment facilities in Kon Tum city, the provincial health sector discovered 8 illegal medical examination and treatment facilities, including: Sanh Dental Clinic (address 130 - old number: 173) Le Hong Phong Street, Quyet Thang Ward); Phuong Dental Clinic (address 141 - old number: 27C) Ho Tung Mau Street, Thang Loi Ward; Doctor Vu's Dental Clinic (address 14 Tran Van Hai Street, Truong Chinh Ward); Cosmetic Dentistry (address 278 Tran Khanh Du Street, Duy Tan Ward); Doctor Pham Minh Duc's Dental Clinic (address 31 Nguyen Viet Xuan Street, Thang Loi Ward); Kon Tum Dr.K Dental Clinic (address 670 Duy Tan Street, Duy Tan Ward) and MeLaTecr-SG Center Dental Clinic (address 137 Tran Phu Street, Truong Chinh Ward).
Mr. Vo Van Thanh - Director of the Department of Health said: In the past time, the state management agency of health in the province has created conditions for individuals and units to invest in private health care, in order to take care of people's health, contributing to reducing the burden on public hospitals. However, the industry is also determined to strictly handle establishments that violate the law, especially those that practice without a license, intentionally violate the law, and repeat violations. In addition to high fines, we also revoke the operating license, and publicly announce the names and specific addresses for all people to know. The Department of Health has carried out planned and unscheduled inspections of medical examination and treatment establishments in the province.
