Clarifying the case of an internet cafe owner beating two middle school students in Ho Chi Minh City

Regarding the incident of an internet shop owner beating two middle school students that is spreading on social networking sites, causing public outrage, on the morning of July 5, the authorities of Tan Thoi Hiep ward, Ho Chi Minh City (where the incident occurred) had initial information exchanges about the incident.

Accordingly, through monitoring the situation on social networking sites, Tan Thoi Hiep Ward Police, Ho Chi Minh City discovered and reported to the Ward People's Committee regarding a Facebook account posted by an anonymous participant on the group "VIETNAM 24h" with the content "a clip of the owner of Tiger gaming shop on To Ky street repeatedly "interacting" with 2 customers who are middle school students".

Immediately after receiving the information, the People's Committee of Tan Thoi Hiep Ward directed the Ward Police to verify and determined the location of the incident to be the Tiger Gaming Internet cafe, located at 98C Nguyen Anh Thu, Ward 58, Tan Thoi Hiep Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. The incident occurred at around 2:30 a.m. on March 23, 2025.

Accordingly, Tan Thoi Hiep Ward Police coordinated with the Criminal Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police to review, verify, and identify the two people beaten in the clip as HTL (born in 2011) and VMH (born in 2012).

Taking statements from employees of Tiger Gaming Internet cafe, it is known that the cause of the incident was because the two people in the game room did not log in to their own accounts but used someone else's account, so the employee texted the owner, NVH (born in 1995, residing in Tan Thoi Hiep ward, HCMC), via Zalo social network account. When NVH returned to meet the two students, the incident as shown in the clip happened.

Tan Thoi Hiep Ward People's Committee resolutely handles any violations, if any. The People's Committee will continue to report on the inspection results and work with relevant people.
