Ministry of Education directs case of teacher with 'special' record of beating student, strangling colleague

Regarding the report "A teacher was strangled by a colleague in the middle of the school yard for reminding him to park his car illegally", the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) requested the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training to urgently inspect, verify and report the above incident to the Ministry (through the Department of Teachers and Educational Managers) before October 14, 2025.

The report needs to clarify the developments of the incident, the responsibilities of the relevant groups and individuals, and the handling measures that have been taken.

Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training received a report from the press that on the morning of October 3, 2025, a math teacher at Vo Nguyen Giap High School assaulted another teacher right in the school yard. This behavior seriously violated the regulations on teachers' ethics and negatively affected the pedagogical environment.

As Tien Phong Newspaper reported, at around 7:10 a.m. on October 3, Mr. Nguyen Truc Sinh (Secretary of the School Youth Union, teacher of National Defense and Security Education ) was on duty checking student discipline and supervising order as assigned by the Board of Directors. Here, Mr. Sinh reminded Mr. Dang Tang (a teacher at the same school) about parking in the wrong location.

Instead of accepting, Mr. Tang reacted violently, using threatening words and twice squeezing Mr. Sinh's neck, causing pain and signs of neck injury.

In addition to the above incident, the school also reported that Mr. Tang often had an aggressive attitude, was uncooperative, and was disrespectful to colleagues and students. He repeatedly left meetings without permission, violated working regulations, and caused difficulties for professional and organizational activities in the school.

Given the seriousness of the incident, Vo Nguyen Giap High School requested the Department of Education and Training and Ea O Commune Police to investigate, clarify and strictly handle the case.

The leader of Vo Nguyen Giap High School said that assaulting colleagues was just the "tip of the iceberg" of Mr. Tang's "iceberg". According to the records, Mr. Tang has been disciplined 5 times. Before being transferred to Vo Nguyen Giap High School, Mr. Tang taught at Tran Nhan Tong High School. Here, he was disciplined 3 times. Specifically, in 2013, he was reprimanded for violating the ethics of teachers, insulting and slapping students, insulting colleagues, slandering leaders, and arbitrarily confiscating students' phones but not returning them.

In 2016, Mr. Tang was disciplined with a warning and his salary increase was extended for not having a lesson plan, teaching incorrect knowledge, breaking students' phones, insulting ethnic minority students, and opposing the leadership. In 2019, Mr. Tang was again warned for teaching without a lesson plan, smashing the board, and beating students in front of observers. When he received the warning, he threw the paper on the ground, showing his disregard for school rules...

Mr. Tang was then transferred to Vo Nguyen Giap High School. Here, he was disciplined in January 2024 for insulting the honor, dignity and violating the body of a student. One year later (January 2025), Mr. Tang was disciplined with a warning for similar behavior.
