Many areas on the island such as Duong Dong, Cua Duong, Ham Ninh and the entire North Island in Phu Quoc, An Giang province are still without power due to the 110kV underground cable incident Ha Tien - Phu Quoc on November 29, 2025. The cause is that the coastal road construction unit violated the power grid safety corridor.
Up to now, there are still areas without electricity including: Cua Duong, Ganh Dau, Bai Thom and Cua Can with about 12,000 customers (equivalent to 25%) without electricity due to insufficient power supply capacity and the long distance from the South to the North of the island.
An Giang Electricity is urgently looking for a solution, at the same time temporarily supplying power from Nam Phu Quoc station to essential agencies and has restored power to more than 17,000 customers. It is expected that the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc submarine cable problem will be fixed in about 1 month under favorable weather conditions.
While waiting for the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc underground cable line to be completely repaired, the Phu Quoc Power Management Team will implement a plan to supply power from the 110/22kV Nam Phu Quoc station via the 22kV medium voltage grid, with the capacity to meet about 25 MW of load; organize grid operation in safe mode, not allowing any secondary incidents to arise, protecting the safety of people and property.
Within the total capacity of about 25 MW mentioned above, the Power Management Team will organize a rotation of power supply to the areas of Duong Dong, Cua Can, Ganh Dau, Cua Duong, Bai Thom... based on balancing the load at each time, ensuring that the load capacity of the line and transformer station is not exceeded, while still maintaining the power source for other priority loads in the area.
