Da Nang requests to stop construction and fix subsidence on Nguyen Cong Tru Street

The People's Committee of Da Nang City has requested relevant units to immediately deploy measures to ensure safety for people, property, constructions and neighboring works after the subsidence incident on Nguyen Cong Tru Street (An Hai Ward).

Accordingly, SIH Real Estate Company Limited - the investor of Capital Square 3 Urban Area project, along with the contractor and related parties, must temporarily stop construction in the subsidence area and urgently handle safety risks.

The investor is required to check the entire wall system of the project and adjacent projects to have reinforcement measures, especially the area adjacent to Ngo Quyen and Nguyen Cong Tru streets to protect medium voltage power poles and traffic light systems.

At the same time, the unit must report to the People's Committee of An Hai Ward and the Department of Construction on the incident's developments, the status of the construction at the time of the incident and related damages. The unit must review, assess the cause and submit a plan and progress of the remedial work before December 6, 2025.

Da Nang Electricity Company was assigned to strengthen inspection of the electrical system and coordinate with investors to reinforce pole locations at risk of being affected to ensure safe operation of the power grid.

The People's Committee of An Hai Ward will send forces to monitor the investor's incident handling process, while ensuring security, order and traffic safety in the area. The People's Committee of the Ward will coordinate with relevant professional agencies to promptly resolve the incident in each specific case. The results must be reported to the City People's Committee before December 7.

The Department of Construction coordinated to guide the investor in handling the incident, and at the same time, together with the People's Committee of An Hai ward and the traffic police force, organized barriers and traffic diversion to ensure traffic safety.

Previously, at around 2:00 p.m. on December 3, Nguyen Cong Tru Street (from Ngo Quyen Street to Tran Hung Dao Street) suddenly collapsed, creating a deep hole, causing the drainage pipe under the road to break.

On-site inspection showed that the initial cause of the road subsidence was due to the impact of the underground construction process of the Capital Square 3 Urban Area project, invested by SIH Real Estate Company Limited.
