According to the latest report of the General Statistics Office, the unemployment rate of Vietnamese youth in the third quarter of 2025 reached 9.03%, 4 times higher than the national average, meaning that 1 in 10 young people are unemployed. This situation is especially serious in urban areas, many young people, even with university or college degrees, still have difficulty finding suitable jobs.
The reasons are the gap between training and the actual needs of the labor market, along with limited practical skills. Many new graduates have to accept jobs outside their field or temporary jobs such as driving motorbike taxis. Businesses also have difficulty recruiting, because young workers do not fully meet professional requirements.
The Department of Employment believes that training institutions need to link their programs to market needs, encourage young people to improve their skills, and take vocational certification exams. The high unemployment rate among young people is a warning about gaps in training and job connections, requiring coordination between schools, businesses, and young workers themselves to improve their capacity and meet market needs.
