Leveraging its natural advantages, the locality is formulating a strategy for sustainable, high-quality tourism development, attracting trillions of dong in investment to strive to become one of the leading destinations in the region.

Natural advantages

Kim Boi has been gradually shaping its image as a dynamic tourist and service destination. This transformation is driven by its inherent values, including its precious hot mineral springs, pristine natural landscapes, and rich Muong culture. In this development landscape, the hot mineral springs are considered the "key" to unlocking Kim Boi's unique path. This is not only a rare natural resource but also a foundation for developing various forms of tourism, including wellness and health tourism.

Following the administrative boundary merger, Kim Boi commune has a natural area of ​​64.5 km2 with a population of over 35,000 people, of which the Muong ethnic group accounts for 83.5%. This population ratio not only creates a distinctive cultural identity but also provides an advantage for developing community tourism and cultural tourism. In addition, the clean, cool mountainous climate year-round helps Kim Boi attract tourists, especially those seeking extended stays.

One of the notable highlights is the local area's strong ability to attract investment. To date, Kim Boi has attracted over 20 non-budgetary projects with a total registered capital of more than 8,000 billion VND. The majority of these are concentrated in the tourism, trade, and agriculture sectors. The emergence of numerous resorts such as Mandala Retreats, Yasumi Onsen Resort, and Venus Resort... has not only elevated Kim Boi's tourism brand but also created a ripple effect, attracting many other investors. According to Mr. Le Ba Minh, Deputy Director of Hotel Operations at Mandala Retreats Kim Boi, the resort recorded impressive growth in visitor numbers in 2025. Specifically, the resort welcomed over 75,000 domestic and international visitors for sightseeing, relaxation, and experiencing its services. This figure demonstrates the growing appeal of Mandala Retreats Kim Boi on the tourism map, while also reflecting the quality of service and reputation of the resort in meeting the diverse needs of tourists.

In particular, in Kim Boi, the Cuoi Ha ecological urban complex project, combined with a cable car system, is currently being implemented. This is considered a "strategic leverage," opening up new development opportunities for the entire region. Once operational, this project promises to completely transform the socio -economic landscape of the locality.

The development of the business sector clearly reflects this shift. The commune has 174 businesses, 11 cooperatives, and over 500 operating households. Average per capita income has reached 63.5 million VND/year, and the poverty rate has decreased to 4.5%.

Mr. Bui Thanh Ha, Head of the Economic Department of Kim Boi Commune, affirmed: “Kim Boi has a special advantage in terms of hot springs and natural environment. This is the foundation for developing high-quality resort tourism. We have identified tourism as a key economic sector, contributing to improving the lives of the people and preserving local cultural values.”

Strategic vision

Kim Boi has a natural mineral spring with a stable temperature of 34-36°C throughout the year.

According to Mr. Bui Thanh Ha, Kim Boi's uniqueness lies not only in its resources but also in its central location and relatively well-developed infrastructure compared to neighboring communes. This allows the locality to easily connect with major economic regions and tourist markets, especially Hanoi. "We are focusing on improving the investment environment, removing procedural and land-related obstacles to create the most favorable conditions for businesses. At the same time, tourism development planning is being carried out systematically, aiming for sustainability and regional linkages," Mr. Ha added.

Instead of pursuing growth alone, Kim Boi aims for harmonious development between economy and culture. Traditional values ​​of the Muong people, such as the Muong Dong festival and the Mo Muong heritage, are being restored and incorporated into tourism products. This approach not only creates unique highlights but also allows local people to directly participate in the tourism value chain. Community tourism, local cuisine, and cultural experiences are becoming attractive products, contributing to increased income for the people.

Simultaneously, the locality also focuses on investing in education, healthcare, and social welfare, ensuring comprehensive development. The school system has been upgraded, and policies to support vulnerable groups have been fully implemented.

By 2030, Kim Boi commune aims to become a high-quality tourist destination, attracting approximately 1 million visitors annually and achieving a total investment of 18,000 billion VND during the 2025-2030 period. To realize this goal, the locality prioritizes diversified tourism development, enhanced promotion, environmental protection, and encouraging local people to participate in tourism activities, thereby increasing income while preserving cultural identity.

Despite its many advantages, Kim Boi also faces numerous challenges. Rapid development can put pressure on the environment and infrastructure if not properly controlled. Furthermore, competition in the tourism industry is increasingly fierce, requiring the locality to continuously innovate products and improve service quality. However, with a clear strategy, the consensus of the government and people, and the participation of major investors, Kim Boi is facing a great opportunity to break through and "awaken" the value of this land rich in potential. When its potential and advantages are exploited in the right direction, and its cultural identity is preserved, it can absolutely become one of the unique tourism centers of Northern Vietnam in the near future.
