Ky Dong is approaching Ky Anh district town.

After many years of development, Ky Dong commune - the political , economic, and social center of Ky Anh district (Ha Tinh province) - has met the criteria for a type V urban area and is striving to become a town by the end of 2024.

According to the General Urban Plan approved by the Government, on November 5, 2015, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province issued a decision approving the Urban Sub-area Planning - Ky Dong Urban Center, Ky Anh district. The Resolution of the 26th Congress of the Ky Anh District Party Committee and the Resolution of the 10th Congress of the Ky Dong Commune Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term also determined that by 2025, Ky Dong will be a type V urban area.

According to Ms. Duong Thi Van Anh, Vice Chairman of the Ky Anh District People's Committee, to realize that goal, right from the beginning of the term, the district has set forth breakthrough tasks and solutions for economic development; focusing on leading the shift in economic structure according to the urban development orientation, with a focus on restructuring the agricultural sector, promoting poverty reduction, and ensuring social security. Implementing the construction of key projects with a ripple effect to create momentum in urban development. Actively mobilizing maximum resources from all economic sectors to build infrastructure. Upgrading the existing urban area while simultaneously completing the infrastructure in newly developed areas.

To date, Ky Dong town has achieved 83/100 points and met all 5 criteria for a Type V urban area. Currently, the commune is implementing comprehensive solutions to shift its economic structure towards urban development, such as: developing commercial agriculture and high-tech agriculture; increasing the proportion of non-agricultural labor...

Many urban infrastructure construction projects in Ky Dong are currently being focused on and completed.

The good news is that, through propaganda efforts, people have quickly adapted to the new production methods and are enthusiastic, joining hands with the local authorities to accelerate the urban development process. Mr. Le Van Hai, a resident of Dong Tien village (Ky Dong), shared: "From a poor area with a sparse population, in just a few years, the commune has undergone remarkable changes from infrastructure to all aspects of urban life, so we are extremely excited. With the propaganda and dissemination by the commune and the village about building Ky Dong into a type V urban area, and eventually establishing a town, we, the people, fully agree and support it and will fully implement the local policies and plans to contribute to the construction and development of the district's central urban area."

Over the years, Ky Dong has made significant progress in socio-economic development and urban infrastructure construction. The average annual economic growth rate has reached 11.2%. The value of agricultural, forestry, and fisheries production currently accounts for just over 13%; trade and services account for over 52%; and industry and construction account for over 34%. Average per capita income has reached 4.5 million VND/month. The poverty rate is only 2.5%.

With effective production and business plans, a synchronously developed infrastructure, and the dynamism of its people, Ky Dong is gradually taking shape as a district center. Ms. Dang Thuy Anh, Secretary of the Ky Dong Commune Party Committee, stated: "Identified as the district center since the district's establishment, Ky Dong has closely integrated the New Rural Development program with the civilized urban development program. With the support of the district, the commune is focusing all resources on comprehensively building criterion number 5 in the construction of a type V urban area – the level of infrastructure development."

Along with the construction of the district's administrative center infrastructure, many urban infrastructure projects in Ky Dong have been completed, such as: a 70m wide road with a length of 2.98 km; the Dong Phu road with a length of 3.5 km; and the road and lighting system in the district's administrative center area...

In parallel with implementing criterion number 5 - the synchronous development of infrastructure - in the strategy to build Ky Dong into a type V urban area, Ky Anh district also focuses on creating a change in the mindset, way of thinking, and way of doing things of the people towards an urban lifestyle.

The contractor is currently working on the urban drainage system project in the political, economic, and social center of Ky Anh district.

Ms. Duong Thi Van Anh, Vice Chairman of the Ky Anh District People's Committee, added that the district is currently urgently completing the remaining projects and items such as: the main road system in Ky Dong urban area; the lighting system on National Highway 1 section through Ky Dong urban area; Giang Dong Secondary School; the District Cultural and Communication Center; green parks and some other urban infrastructure projects... The event of Ky Dong commune becoming a type V urban area is an important milestone, creating a foundation and motivation for Ky Anh to continue consolidating and developing the criteria, aiming to become a town of the district in 2024.
