Táo Quân 2026 brings together familiar artists such as People's Artist Quốc Khánh, People's Artist Tự Long, Meritorious Artist Chí Trung, Meritorious Artist Quang Thắng, artist Vân Dung, and Trung Ruồi… Many viewers jokingly call this year's Táo Quân a "seasonal" version, or "Táo Quân on the 41st day of Tet".

The program is quite short, recreating the "Picking the Flower of Democracy" segment that was so popular in the 2017 version of Táo Quân. Viewers get to see the familiar setting of the royal court, with the Jade Emperor (Quốc Khánh), Nam Tào (Trung Ruồi), and the four Táo (Heavenly Officials) of Society (Tự Long), Economy (Quang Thắng), Civil Servant (Chí Trung), and Education (Vân Dung). Veteran actors like People's Artist Xuân Bắc and People's Artist Công Lý are absent from this Táo Quân.
The witty and familiar exchanges, along with the humorous lines, were charmingly recreated by the cast. However, because the script was so familiar that the audience had almost memorized it, this year's Táo Quân (Kitchen Gods) lacked surprises. The plot revolving around answering a riddle comparing the number of chicken eggs and the number of doctoral dissertations at a training institution was identical to the 2017 Táo Quân.
The novelty in the script lies in the ending, where AI (artificial intelligence) is incorporated to solve mathematical problems. Additionally, mergers – a hot topic this past year – and "big data" are also mentioned. However, these details are only briefly touched upon and don't truly create profound or impactful situations or moments.
The re-enactment of the old script led many viewers to mistakenly believe that Táo Quân 2026 was a rerun. Others commented that although the content wasn't new, this year's program still evoked a sense of nostalgia. "The focus should be on watching the veteran actors and reminiscing, rather than just checking trends or dialogue," one viewer commented.
Previously, the cast revealed positive images of rehearsals for this year's Tet Comedy Show. The script was completed in a short time, and there were only a few short nights to prepare for the performance, so any limitations in the program are understandable.
