Dong Thai is an ancient village belonging to Tung Anh commune, Duc Tho district ( Ha Tinh province), and its name dates back to the 15th year of Hoang Dinh, during the reign of King Le Kinh Tong (1614).

During the feudal dynasties, Dong Thai was known as a village of scholars, with 24 people earning doctoral degrees. Among them were many famous figures who made significant contributions to the country in various fields, such as: Imperial Scholar Bui Duong Lich, Imperial Scholar Bui Thuc Kien, Minister Phan Ba Dat, and First-Rank Doctor Phan Dinh Phung...
With a tradition of studiousness and academic achievement, Dong Thai is among the 20 most scholarly and civilized villages in Vietnam. It is also the starting point of the Nghe Tinh Soviet Uprising (1930-1931) in Duc Tho; the red flag with the hammer and sickle of the Party was twice raised over the village communal house in Dong Thai.
Vo Hong Hai, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department, and Hoang Xuan Hung, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, presented flowers to congratulate Dong Thai village.
To date, after 410 years of formation and development, Dong Thai still preserves historical relics and temples commemorating the sons and daughters of the homeland who have made contributions to the village and the country. Currently, Dong Thai village has 259 households with over 1,000 inhabitants; more than 100 professors and doctors.
Throughout history, the officials and people of the village have united and strived to build a more civilized and prosperous rural community. In particular, since the implementation of the National Target Program for New Rural Development, Dong Thai has become a shining example. The electricity and road infrastructure has been upgraded and built to be spacious and modern. Economic models are increasingly developing in both quantity and quality.
The people's material and spiritual lives have improved, with average per capita income reaching 69 million VND/year. Dong Thai village is focusing on building itself into a smart new rural residential area by 2024.
At the ceremony, Dong Thai village held a ritual to worship the village's tutelary deity at the provincial-level historical site of Dong Thai village communal house.
According to ancient tradition, every year on the 13th day of the first lunar month, the people of Dong Thai village and their descendants from all over the country gather at the Dong Thai village communal house to hold a ceremony to worship the village's tutelary deity.
The Đông Thái village communal house was begun in 1885 and inaugurated in 1890, to worship Đinh Liệt, a meritorious official of the Lê dynasty, who rendered meritorious service to the people and protected the nation, and was revered by the villagers as the village's tutelary deity.
