Memories of youth

Nearly 50 years have passed since the war ended, but the memories of a time of youthful bravery and unwavering courage remain almost intact in the minds of the former Youth Volunteer soldiers.

July 15th is the traditional day of the Vietnamese Youth Volunteer Force, an occasion to remember the image of the resilient, indomitable, and courageous youth volunteers who fulfilled their duty to protect the Fatherland.

Despite his advanced age, former Youth Volunteer Corps member Nguyen Thai Huu, residing in Lien Bao ward, Vinh Yen city, still earns everyone's admiration for his optimistic spirit and rare mental acuity. Memories of a time of war and sacrifice remain vivid in his heart.

Mr. Do Van Binh, from Thanh Lang town, Binh Xuyen district, is now 90 years old. He is a former volunteer youth who served in bomb disposal, clearing routes, and building roads during the Dien Bien Phu campaign. At that time, Mr. Binh and his comrades brought the spirit of "volunteering" to the battlefields, contributing to the glorious victories of the Army and building the glorious tradition of the heroic Vietnamese People's Army.

Although now advanced in age and declining in health, the former Youth Volunteers still maintain the traditional spirit of the Youth Volunteer Force, loyal to the Party and the people; always setting an example in studying and following the thoughts, morals, and style of Ho Chi Minh , actively contributing to building civilized cities and new rural areas. On the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnamese Youth Volunteer Force (July 15, 1950 – July 15, 2024), we are proud of the glorious history and activities of the Vietnamese Youth Volunteer Force in general and the Youth Volunteer Force of Vinh Phuc province in particular, which played a crucial role in the victories of our army and people in the national liberation war.

The Association of Former Youth Volunteers of Vinh Phuc Province continues to uphold the tradition of overcoming difficulties, courage, resourcefulness, and creativity of previous generations of youth volunteers, and continues to encourage its members to undertake and successfully complete new tasks.
