Previously, while digging holes to plant trees, Border Guard Station 281 Dao San, Phong Tho District (Lai Chau Province) discovered a number of mortar shells lying about 60cm above the ground, with fuses still intact. Immediately after receiving the information, the Lai Chau Provincial Military Command reported to the competent authority; at the same time, directed the Engineering force to collect 20 shells. These explosives were identified as 82mm mortar shells left over from the battle to protect the northern border.

Immediately after collection, the Engineering force of Lai Chau Provincial Military Command conducted detonation according to regulations, ensuring absolute safety for people and technical equipment.

It is known that in recent years, the Engineering Force of Lai Chau Provincial Military Command has received dozens of reports and safely handled many types of ammunition and explosives left over from the war, ensuring absolute safety.
