According to Mr. Hoang Van Bang, Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Lam Dong province, after reorganization, Lam Dong province has a natural area of 24,233.07 km², a population of 3,872,999 people, with 49 out of 54 ethnic groups living together, of which more than 683,000 are ethnic minorities, accounting for 17.6% of the total provincial population. These ethnic groups live in areas stretching from the Central Highlands mountains to coastal communes, possessing diverse and rich customs and traditions. The province has 124 communes and wards, the Phu Quy special zone, and 5 communes in the land border area (Dak Wil, Thuan An, Thuan Hanh, Tuy Duc, and Quang Truc communes) with 141.045 km of land border with Mondulkiri province, Kingdom of Cambodia; and 192 km of coastline.

Currently, the province has 312 legally recognized religious establishments (10 of which are classified as provincial-level historical relics), 24 state-recognized religious organizations with approximately 1,670,000 followers (accounting for about 43% of the province's population), 3,500 religious dignitaries, 6,700 religious officials; 1,292 legally recognized religious establishments; and 4 religious training institutions. This has created a diverse cultural, social, and religious landscape, contributing to the province's socio-economic development.
