The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has just issued a plan to launch a 90-day intensive campaign to clean up marriage data and streamline procedures for confirming marital status from May 31st to August 31st. According to the plan, agencies, units, and localities will coordinate to implement solutions to ensure the updating, synchronization, and cleaning of all data on marital status in the electronic civil registry database with the National Population Database.
In addition, the plan includes promoting the digitization of marriage information at judicial agencies and updating divorce information based on court judgments to share data with the national system, facilitating administrative procedures and the application of electronic identification (VNeID). A key aspect of this campaign is reducing the required documents for procedures demanding confirmation of marital status; moving towards eliminating the "certificate of marital status" procedure in eligible localities, gradually expanding nationwide. This will help shorten processing times for applications such as vehicle registration, adoption, and birth registration for illegitimate children.
To achieve effectiveness, the Chairman of the City People's Committee requested enhanced coordination among relevant units and improved efficiency in sharing and processing marriage data. Each citizen will have their marital status fully and accurately updated in the national database, and can access this information via VNeID without needing to submit a marriage status certificate when carrying out related administrative procedures.
