To this day, the problem of spam messages and calls from unregistered SIM cards continues to plague mobile phone users in Vietnam.

Report phone numbers that show signs of harassment directly.

When constantly bothered by spam messages or calls from unregistered SIM cards, people should proactively report it immediately. This is the quickest way to help the call center identify and handle those infringing phone numbers.

To report a spam message, compose a message using the following format: S (phone number sending the spam message - content of the spam message) and send it to the hotline 156 (or 5656).

Similarly, if you are bothered by spam calls, compose: V (phone number sending the spam call - content of the spam call) and send it to 156 (or 5656).

Sign up for the no-ads list.

The Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department ( Ministry of Public Security ) has implemented a Do Not Call (DNC) management system, allowing all subscribers to register to block annoying advertising calls and messages from unregistered SIM cards.

The first simple way to register for spam call blocking is to compose the message DK DNC and send it to 5656 (free of charge). This will add your subscriber number to the "immunity" list, effectively blocking automated advertising content.

You can also register online by accessing the portal at khongquangcao.ais.gov.vn, entering your phone number, and confirming with an OTP code to complete the process.

How to block spam calls from your mobile carrier.

Each network provider offers its own syntax for users to block internal promotional messages. While this method doesn't block spam SIM cards outside the network, it helps reduce the amount of unnecessary advertising messages from your own service provider.

If you use Viettel , simply send a text message with the syntax: TC to 199. This will help you block all promotional or advertising messages from this network provider.

If you are using MobiFone , send a text message with the syntax: TC to 9214. This will block all promotional service messages from MobiFone sent from phone numbers with the prefix 098 or named MobiFone.

For VinaPhone subscribers, send a text message with the syntax: TC to 18001091 to block spam messages.

Use third-party spam call and message blocking services.

If the above measures are still insufficient, you can use spam call and message blocking software such as TrueCaller, SMS Shield, Hiya, and VeroSMS. These applications not only rely on information from the network provider but also build their databases through contributions from the user community.

Thanks to this, they can immediately identify and warn you about phone numbers that have previously harassed many other people, helping you distinguish and effectively reject unsolicited or fraudulent calls.
