In late February 2026, Mr. Vu Van Binh (born in 1994, residing in Lang Thuong village, An Khanh commune) was involved in a traffic accident on his way home from work, suffering a traumatic brain injury and requiring urgent surgery at Kien An Hospital. His family was already struggling financially; his parents were elderly and frail, his siblings were not well-off, and he lacked health insurance, making the treatment costs a huge burden.
Understanding the situation, Mr. Nguyen Van Trong, administrator of the Facebook group "An Lao Brotherhood" with over 73,000 followers, proactively coordinated with the Lang Thuong village authorities and sought permission from Mr. Binh's family to post a fundraising appeal. The information was quickly shared and spread on social media, receiving attention and support from many people both within and outside the locality. In a short time, the amount of donations reached 160 million VND, providing Mr. Binh's family with the funds for surgery and treatment.
In addition, Mr. Trong also connected with several businesses, directly visiting and providing further support to help Mr. Binh cover his medical and living expenses. Thanks to the community's collective efforts, Mr. Binh's health has stabilized and he has now returned to work. "At the time of the accident, I was very worried because my family didn't have the means. With the help and support of Mr. Trong and everyone around me, I had the opportunity to receive treatment, overcome the difficult period, and recover my health. This is a great source of encouragement for me to work hard and stabilize my life," Mr. Binh shared.
Not only does he support specific cases, but on a daily basis, through social media, Mr. Trong regularly shares information and connects people in difficult circumstances with philanthropists. His social media posts appealing for support receive a positive response, helping many people overcome their hardships in a timely manner. In addition, Mr. Nguyen Van Trong also serves as the队长 (Team Leader) of the My Duc Lion Dance Team. From lion dance performances, he and his members collaborate with the Phuc Lan Duong Team and the Le Hai Duong Team to organize fundraising programs for charity, especially during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
During evening performances, the team serves the public while also raising funds for donations. Each year, the team provides financial support to underprivileged students; in peak years, they raised over 10 million VND. All proceeds are used to purchase gifts and mooncakes for the students. While the gifts may not be of great monetary value, they bring joy, excitement, and warmth to the children. Furthermore, this activity fosters a spirit of unity, sharing, and community responsibility among the team members, attracting more young people to volunteer and help those in difficult and disadvantaged circumstances through their own labor.
Besides his busy business running a hat and clothing store in the area, Mr. Trong – affectionately known by his friends as "Trong the Braggart" – actively participates in many charitable activities both locally and outside the area. Since the beginning of 2025, he and the Youth Union of Tien Thanh commune (now Tien Lang commune) have participated in the "Winter Volunteer Program," supporting students at Ban Pho Ethnic Boarding Primary School (Bac Ha commune, Lao Cai province); and collaborated with the "Kien An Brotherhood Association" to distribute 50 gift packages of essential goods to needy households in Kien An and Phu Lien wards.
In mid-August 2025, Mr. Trong, along with several individuals and businesses, carried out flood relief efforts in Hang Pu Si village, Xa Dung commune ( Dien Bien province), distributing over 100 gift packages including cash, blankets, and food, worth over 100 million VND, directly to the local people, helping them stabilize their lives.
Mr. Nguyen Van Sang, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Khanh commune and Secretary of the Youth Union of An Khanh commune, commented that Mr. Nguyen Van Trong is an exemplary citizen who enlisted in the army and completed his military service. With his energetic personality, he actively participates in and organizes charitable activities in the area, effectively playing a connecting role and calling for the support of the community.
Nguyen Van Trong's charitable work goes beyond simply providing material support; it also contributes to spreading the spirit of "mutual assistance and compassion" within the community. Trong believes that doing good deeds stems from the heart, and the important thing is to help the right people at the right time.
