The International Letter Writing Contest was initiated by the Universal Postal Union - UPU in 1971 and has so far gone through 53 contests. Vietnam has officially participated in the UPU International Letter Writing Contest since 1987. Realizing that this is a meaningful and useful social activity for Vietnamese students, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) coordinates In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, the Vietnam Post Corporation, Tien Phong Tien Phong and Children newspapers and the Vietnam Writers' Association, the contest has been organized in recent years.
