Self-needs
Every morning, when many people are still sleeping, the stadium of Phan Dinh Phung High School (Dong Hoi City) is filled with the sound of aerobic music. There, more than 20 women from many communes and wards start their day together with healthy, energetic movements. They do not practice to compete or win prizes, nor do they need anyone to motivate or organize them; they simply practice because they find it necessary for themselves.
This aerobic class has been maintained regularly for more than a year now, with many different components and ages. Some people used to suffer from bone and joint diseases, some used to be stressed because of work and life. But since coming to sports , they have found flexibility, positive spirit and above all, joy every day. Ms. Tran Thi Loan (born in 1964 in Nam Ly ward, Dong Hoi city), the oldest member of the class, shared: "In the past, I often had insomnia, I was always tired. Since practicing aerobics regularly, my sleep has been better, my health has improved significantly. Every morning we meet, laugh together, exercise together, and our spirit is much happier". From a spontaneous exercise class, they have now become a small community connected by the initiative to live healthy and positive lives.
More and more people are participating in physical exercise and sports.
More and more people are participating in physical exercise and sports.
If in the past, TTQC in Quang Binh was mostly associated with short-term or seasonal emulation movements, now there has been a clear change. Practicing physical exercise and sports has become a personal need and a daily habit of a large part of the population. Sports are no longer seen as simply competition or entertainment, but also a scientific method to improve health and prevent diseases. Notably, the subjects participating in sports are increasingly diverse, not only young people or workers, but also the elderly, retired officials, and housewives actively seek out sports. In many localities, sports clubs such as: health care, walking, volleyball, yoga, aerobics... attract hundreds of participants every week.
Not only in form, the initiative is also shown in self-equipping with training knowledge, organizing small groups, contributing funds to buy equipment, hiring coaches, organizing exchanges, competitions... This shows that TTQC in Quang Binh has really "permeated" into life, becoming a widespread and effective movement. Along with the increase in the number of participants, sports facilities have also developed, many sports facilities from the province to the commune have been invested in, meeting the training needs of the people. Currently, the whole province has about 70 sports training and competition houses, 166 swimming pools, more than 3,290 outdoor sports training and competition grounds, nearly 3,530 sports facilities are being used for sports activities in the area...
From playground to arena
Not only is it a community health training activity, but it also becomes an "incubator" for high-performance sports in the province.
Hoang Le Quynh Nhu is a typical face of the generation of young athletes who have grown up from the TTQC movement in Quang Binh. Although still very young, Quynh Nhu has made a clear mark with a series of impressive achievements: Two consecutive years (2023-2024), she won first prize in the young women's event at the provincial cross-country race, and set a national record in the women's 600m event (age group born in 2010-2011) at the national youth athletics tournament in 2023. Coming from Ba Don town, where the school sports movement is strongly developed, Quynh Nhu not only shows her athletic qualities but is also a living proof of the effectiveness of investing in and organizing the grassroots sports movement. She is the new hope of Quang Binh athletics, representing the crystallization of personal passion and the foundation of the TTQC movement that is organized systematically and effectively.

Organizing tournaments not only creates a useful playground for people but also contributes to discovering outstanding "nuclei" for high-performance sports.
It can be seen that in recent years, the TTQC movement has been focused on and developed. Traditional cross-country races, Phu Dong Sports Festival, and grassroots competitions organized by localities not only create useful playgrounds and improve community health, but also become places to "screen" and discover "precious gems" like Quynh Nhu. Statistics show that every year, Quang Binh organizes hundreds of grassroots sports competitions with thousands of amateur athletes participating.
The whole province currently has about 1,220 grassroots sports clubs and businesses, sports activities, 1,250 sports collaborators, nearly 340,000 people participating in regular sports training, accounting for 36.7%, the rate of sports families is 29.3%, the rate of cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers practicing sports is 79%...
From these playgrounds, the provincial Sports Department has discovered many promising faces, not only in athletics but also in other sports such as: Swimming, martial arts, chess, sports dancing... The good news is that the TTQC movement in Quang Binh has not only developed in quantity but has really gone into depth, with inheritance and spread. Many localities have proactively built core forces, invested in facilities, and provided professional training for grassroots coaches, an important foundation for grassroots sports to become an effective "incubator" for high-performance sports.
Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Phu Son said: The Department always focuses on innovating the way of organizing mass sports tournaments, focusing on transforming the organization form by socialization, mobilizing participants from clubs, thanks to which the sports movement has made significant changes, contributing significantly to maintaining and improving the physical fitness of the people. In 2024 alone, the province organized over 720 competitions from the grassroots to the provincial level, reaching 111% of the annual plan; of which, 14 provincial-level tournaments (self-organized 6 tournaments, coordinated organization of 8 tournaments), 60 district-level tournaments and more than 640 commune-level tournaments. Provincial TTQC athletes participating in 3 national sports tournaments won 13 medals of all kinds, including 1 gold medal, 5 silver medals, 7 bronze medals...
Undeniably, Quang Binh sports is affirming its strong vitality from the foundation of TTQC every day. It is not only a place to practice health, build a healthy lifestyle, but also a cradle to nurture and nurture talents to reach out and shine.
Peace of Mind
